Bought a browning hi power off the forum...no doubt I bought a problem child.
Maybe 1 in 3 mags cycle correctly. Seems like it won't lock on the last part of the action. Switched mags, polished, replaced recoil spring. Even jams on +p ammo handloads. (Don't preach to me about how dangerous it is with an older hi power please)Spent about $100 and I still can't get it to feed. I expected it would jam up on hollowpoints without a throat but I am at a loss for what to do with it. Not a reliable CC weapon.

Can you tell is its the same mag every time?
BHP are not normally problem guns.... I think it could probably be fixed relatively cheaply.

Is it failing to feed, or failing to lock back? Hard to tell from your note. Disassemble it again, clean it including degreasing it with Gun Scrubber. Relube it with either Wilson Ultima Lube, or Brian Enos' Slide Glide. Replace the recoil spring and the magazine springs. If it is still jamming, try brand new magazines. fwiw - I used to have an older Hi-Power and it ran Win 115 gr. Silvertips flawlessly, so you might try those also.

I sold or traded them all and bought Sigs. That works for everything. I'd still look at small things before spending more money...

Is it a 9 or a 40? We're all assuming 9, but the early 40's never fed right.
If it's a 9, look at the mags before chopping the gun apart.

I sold or traded them all and bought Sigs. Great Advice. Luckily I bought all Sigs the First Time, so I don't know what Jams, FTE and FTF means

Federal 9BP will generally feed in an unaltered BHP The mag follower is what trips the slide stop to hold the slide back after the last round has been fired..... Best BHP man I know of, worked mine over for duty carry dependability and added an extended safety... http://www.cylinder-slide.com/I had removed the magazine safety myself.

What do you do with a pistol that FTF constantly? I off load it. Had a Kahr MK9 that was an abomination with FTF, and such. Sold it at a discount to a guy who wasn't concerned with the problems.

About 20 yrs. ago I shot (or tried to shoot) a H.P. and it jammed constantly, even with FMJ's.Maybe it was the magazine, although it looked fine and the gun had been shot very little. To this day I'm amazed at the mystique and desirability of this pistol, mainly because I've shot so many autos without it's pedigree that functioned flawlessly for hundreds of rounds.

There are different kinds of jams. What does the jam look like? Is the round jammed up horizontally against the ramp before feed or sticking straight up after failing to fulling clear before the upper receiver returned or...? Does it jam on ejection, on feed, or both?
The failure to lock open after the last round is usually a problem with the magazine follower. However, it can also be the "foot" that the follower pushes up to lock the upper receiver.
She was only a whiskey maker, but he loved her still.
