Picking up a small lease in between Coleman and Novice. Does anyone know how the activity is in this area?

It's pathetic hunting in that area. If you see a deer, it will probably be a John Deere.

Hope you see some deer! I hunt a little south of there Between coleman and winters. Been skunked 3 years in a row.

I will tell you this if you do see a buck...he will be a monster!

I also hunt in novice. Beginning of season was really slow. beginning of december saw allot more action. Game cam had at least 3 bucks at the feeder in mornings and evenings. Mostly 3.5 year olds. A few of them will be GREAT deer in the next year or two if the neighboring properties dont take them just b/c they have horns.....

Where abouts in novice?

I was on a place right in that same area two years ago and saw one deer the whole season. Needless to say I am not longer on the lease...

IT all depends, that area can be great or not so. Just depends on the hunting pressure around it & if it had feeders going or food plots/fields.

Here are a couple of my game cam pics. I know there are bigger I have seen them. A couple more years and these guys should be nice. Just hope the neighbors dont jump the gun if they see one of them this next season.

Guy in the background looks tall.

I don't think 2010 is a good year to base anything on. I saw several deer last year. We have lots of black panthers though that keep the deer pop in check. Hell, they've almost run all the darn chupas into the next county.

We just left a place that sits on the southwest corner of HWY 84 and county RD 470. The rancher that leased the place to us is a shyster as he wouldn't tell us exactly how many acres the place was. Once we got our bearings and met the neighbors, we found out he was leasing our pasture and the pasture next to us to 6 total hunters, 200 acres at the most. We got robbed and obviously didn't see many deer at all...too many people in the woods. Beware of this lease...I found his add in the Dallas Morning News last year.

That is exactly where we were two years ago, and he is right. Steer clear of this place. Owner won't tell you the total acreage, and it is my fault for not researching it first. Learn from my mistake. This guy is robbing people!!!

Ever thought about taking out an "editorial" on who it is & what he is doing. That crap don't fly around here.
