Anyone know of any land within an hour of Abilene, Texas that me and a few Falconers can catch a Jackrabbit or two with our hawks?

I have a brother-in-law around San Angelo who just might let you hunt with your birds. Drop me a PM and we will see.

I PM'd ya, we love taking landowners out for personal demonstrations of what Falconry birds can do. Have you looked at some of the PICs I posted in the general hunting section?

Went to Abilene this past weekend and boy did we have some fun, came real close to catch a Bobcat with the hawks, guess I'm lucky the birds had more science than I did!

Next time you paln a trip to the Abilene area, give me a PM and we'll talk. We're covered up with jacks and cottontails. We also have bobcats. (saw one last weekend while doing a deer count).

They won't get my quail will they?

Dang we try, we try so hard to catch quail, saw 50 in three different coveys but just could not get a talon on one of them.

All I asked her to do is get ready to go squirrel hunting I really think this was uncalled for, but rabbit dogs don't act this way!

Today I had both the birds ready to hunt in the afternoon, Neo was a little on the high side at 620g's but that didn't slow the little guy down any.

I caught several more pigeons today so I picked the trap up as to not catch any more!

I set about to make an attachment that would make the set up as real as I could, I used green zip ties and green string (6' of string) and a weight just heavy enough that the pigeon could move it around but not fly off with it.

Even at this higher weight Neo is looking hard and ready to hunt, he is really picking up on the game fast!

I weigh him and beep him up, safety ya know, never know where, how far or under what he will end up after a chase!

I put Neo in the front seat and he acted like he had done this before, very good natured hawk and a pure joy to work with!

Watch the videos I posted to see the whole story but the end is great!

I will be there if anyone from the forum wants to get together. You can spot me by the yellow cap with the First Air Cavalry patch on it.
