Im looking to upgrade my camo this week at cabelas. Im kind of torn between mossy oak new-break up and realtree ap hd. I know its not the biggest decision, but was just curious as to what other texas hunters are using or prefer? Thanks

Realtree HD or a brush pattern, depends on time of year and where im at. But mainly the HD, it matches my trees almost perfectly.

Whatever is on sale.
I usually have on a conglomoration of Real Tree, Nat Gear, Mossy Oak, God's Country Camo, old school brown camo...the deer don't seem to care that I don't match.

I prefer the Realtree HD APG as it is better in my area because it seems to have more green in it.

Wranglers, shirt and jeans. Sitting in a stand the deer won't know I was too smart not to buy my camos.

For deer; ANYTHING that has a good breakup pattern. Good contrast is critical. It gives the illusion of “depth”. Varmints, birds, etc. (Animals that see color) - You can't be the 3-D suits that match the surrounding cover. You can wear regular clothes under them and slip them on and off fairly easy. There is really no need for a cute outfit unless you like to try to impress your buddies.

amen brother.
i'd like them to keep thinking i'm walking down the road doing some work than dressing up like a bush, and sneaking around
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Camo makers are snake oil salesmen. Camo is completely uneeded. As long as you stay still, quitet, and down wind you could wear pink and purple polka dots and the deer won't care. They are alerted by movement, odor, and sound. You could be invisable and if the deer hears or smells you, its all over.

Are you bowhunting from an open tripod or tree stand or gun hunting from a box blind?

I don't bowhunt. I just sneek up behind them and stab them with my bowie knife wearing nothing but a loin cloth. That's how I roll!

Left over BDU's from what seems like forever ago. The good news is, they finally fit me.

Now thats funny. But, in regards to the question; it doesn't matter. I get whatever is cheapest and usually dont even wear that; and I bowhunt. If its hot I will wear a pair of cut off generation 1 camo shorts and a $2.50 camo shirt from wal-mart. When it gets cold, I put on a pair of pants and my green carhart jacket. -coy

check out this site. It's a buddy of mine who is trying to get into camo clothes and he has a really neat idea on camo, especially if you like a lot of green in your camo. http://www.pinecamo.com/index.html

I like the brush popper type Wrangler hunting pants. Great for wakling through just about anything, has a little camo up top with the heavy brush guard leggings then just any ole camo shirt that happened to be on sale. I definately don't win any awards with my ward robe when hunting. Now I am going camo as my guide service colors and if and when I get a sponsor to GIVE me camo then my tune will change and I will sale the crap outta there stuff. Redneck and Camo is kind a like Bread N Butter huh? www.teamredneck.net

There is definitely a place and time for camo. To wear it and not know how and where to use it is the biggest problem.
I would think that anyone who stalks their prey would need to know what type they need to wear in certain terrain. Depth and blending is key.
As far as general hunting - i.e., hunting from a stand or in the cover of brush, a hunter can become "invisible" to some extent...naked...
