what is the best way, or raither how do y'all store your ammo? i got some .308 from few years back that has been just sitting in my closet, its starting to show some rust on it (used to live in houston, maybe that has something to do with it), about to get couple thousand rounds of pistol and rifle ammo within this few months...

Bulk pistol and rifle, I put in Military ammo cans with incadesent packs in my house. Open boxes stay in the safe which has a dehimudifer in it.

I second the military ammo boxes. Check to make sure seal looks good. They are designed to store ammo and they work great...

I'd asked this same question a few weeks ago. What some here are doing is keeping all in an ice chest. As long as the lid seals tight/throw in some packets of silica to absorb any moisture/you should be good to go.

Plus, if someone breaks into your home, ice chest usually won't be the 1st thing a perp will grab.

I have done this for years and it works well. Keeps drastic temperature swings to a minimum, which seems to be one of the big factors in powder and primers breaking down and brass corrosion. Throw in a few dessicant packs and you are good to go. Store my bulk powder and primers like this too, works good.

Pretty much. Indoors, airtight, off the ground (not sitting directly on the ground). Ammo can, rubbermaid, even a wooden crate with desiccant packs will generally work except in very humid enviroments.

If you can't find ammo cans cheap, the MTM CaseGard ones Cabelas sells do work well.
