Are these any good? I found some for cheap, but don't want to buy if they are cheap. I am looking to put these on a couple of 6.5 gallon buckets for hanging feeders for out of the way bowhunting places.

Thanks

If they are the digital ones that is all i use. How cheap is cheap. And is it for the complete timer motor and all?

Sounds like a good deal. I swapped the spinner plate for the metal Moultrie plate. Add a rechargeable battery and a solar panel and should be good to go.

I have had Remington Digital Timers on 2 feeders for a few years and I just set it and forget it. Just add corn every once in a while. No complaints.

Those of you who have replaced worn out timers (on feeders other than Remington brand) with the Remington timer, did you notice any less power in when slinging corn?

I have many feeders on my properties, but only 1 Remington (entire mechanism, not just timer). The first thing I noticed, is that it is very week when compared to my Moultrie and other brands. It has performed without a hiccup for 7 or 8 years, but just doesn't throw the corn very far. I have been wondering if the Remington motor is weaker (less rpm's) or if the Remington timer is the cause of the short throwing distance? Since the Remington timer gives a selection of low, med, or high spin speeds, I wonder if if even the high speed slightly reduces voltage to the motor.
Have ya'll noticed any reduction if performance on non Remington feeders when the timer has been replaced with the Remington?

Remington feeders allow you to set 3 different motor speeds. Check that when you first set it up. They will also indicate battery strength.

For the money, warranty, and customer service - they offer a great product!

I have not been happy with my Remington Express motor/controller setup. The motors on these things are WEAK. The controller seems to work well, but the motor itself sucks.

The Motor and Box are "CHEEEEP". The timer (Not made by them of course) is pretty good)

We bought 4 of the metal remington feeders in October. The ones we bought were $99 at Academy. They did not have funnels and due to time constraints we decided to use them as they were for this year.

Within 2 weeks one motor went out...I had a spare at the ranch so I replaced it. I brought the motor back and called Remington. At first they wanted ME to send the motor back on MY dime so they could verify it was indeed not working. I told them that ain't happening. I was talking with a customer service rep and his hands were tied. So I got his email and sent hime a very professional yet to the point email and asked him to give to the highest manager he could. I go to the lease the following weekend and ANOTHER motor is out...So now, 2 out of 4 motors are broken.

I had sent that email ona Thursday evening and left for the ranch the next day around 1:00 or so. the supervisor DID reply. I figured he would since I made it clear I would post my dissatisfaction on this site and any other that would lend an ear.

I spoke eith the supervisor over the phone, telling him about the 2 motors that were out and that I didn't feel I needed to pay 10 bucks to get the motors to him. He explained that in th past they used to send the replacements with the promise of the customer returning them, but they got burned and had to change their policy. I told him I understood and it's unfortunate. I suggested that they charge me the 10 bucks or so for the 2 motors....send the replacements...then when I send the motors back, refund my $10 bucks. I wasn't as concerned with the actual money...i was more upset that I had to send my bad ones in....and then wait for them to send me the new ones....this was gonna be a 10 day ordeal at a minimum.

Long and short, he just sent me the new motors, BUT he sent a BRAND NEW set with housing, spinner AND timer. When I received them (in 2 days)there was NO return packaging from FedEx as I was told there would be AND that they had sent me the entire set and ALL I was needing was the motors. They said don't worry about it, just keep them all...we just want you to be satisfied with our service.

So, I will admit, for $99 I wasn't expecting a whole lot....and I figured the motors would not last forever...but I DID expect them to last longer than 2 weeks.

Since I replaced them we have NO issues. I feel they went above and beyond to satisfy my problem. A little extra legwork on my end due to their policy, but in today's world I can understand where they were coming from.

2 suggestions if you are buying or have the steel barrels as I do. GET FUNNELS. When full they work great....but as it gets down to the last 100 or so lbs, without a funnel, the feed is spotty at best. I am installing funnels this weekend.

Also, the 3 piece legs are worthless...if you have ANY pigs at all, I don't see them making it through the first 2 weekends. I replaced ours with 9' drill stem. I've watched piggies bang all over those legs. They'll shake some corn out, but the legs ain't collapsing.

Again, for the money, they are OK...nothing spectacular. Just add a funnel and change the legs and they will do fine. In the event the motor goes out, they DO stand behind the product. I just didn't want to wait for a 2 to 3 week shipping relay during deer season...
