What is the average cost of an AR Lower? Found a good deal on a Bushmaster upper but just wondering how much would it cost me to build the rifle i'm not familiar with these guns

I think Chrisboc can get you a complete Spikes lower for around $250. That's what I run on my AR.

About $ 225 to 275 at most shows depends on accs. and who's lower. I have several and as long as it has a major company name not( Bubbas backyard emporium ) you should be OK!

This is what I would suggest. up There are several dealers doing them in that price range so you might want to check with someone local if you cant make it out this far to deal with Chris. Like said above stick with a name brand and you should be fine ! up

So a little clarificaton is probably in order as lowers can be a bit confusing.

If you already have a complete upper, there is typically 2 ways to finish your gun.

Complete lower
This is a lower receiver that has been fully built out. Meaning all the parts have been installed on the receiver and it ready to be matched to a complete upper immediately. These are more expensive obviously because no parts or assembly is required. I've never bought a complete lower but I believe the gng rate is about $250 as mentioned. I'm not sure where, other than folks on this board, you can purchase complete lowers but a google search will find you some.

Stripped lower
This is a lower receiver that has no parts installed. You will have to buy a lower parts kit and buttstock assembly and install everything before it can be matched to your upper. Assembly is very, very easy and a great learning experience. These are cheaper upfront because of the additional parts needed. The going rate these days is about $100. The best part of gng the stripped lower route is that you get to configure it exactly how you want. For the most part, all lower receivers are about the same, just a different logo. You just have to choose if you want a snake, spider, buck, etc. The best deal I've seen on lowers is at AIMSurplus. They sell high quality stuff. This Spikes is $79 and Surplus Armsis $59. Purchase a lower parts kit like Del-Ton for $55 and a buttstock assembly like DPMS for $50 and you could potentially have a complete upper for $164 + shipping costs and FFL transfer.

Hmmmm, lets see here.

Spikes lower, $79 ships free, "IF" they were in stock.
Delton LPK, $55 + $9.86 for shipping = $64.86
DPMS buttstock assembly, $49.99 + 10.48 for shipping = $60.47
FFL fee, $10.

Total of $214.33

Now you have yourself a pretty low end parted together lower you had to build yourself. Not to mention the lowers arent in stock. I fail to see the plus side of going this rought... I would pay the $33.67 more to have a quality complete lower out the door. But thats just me, to each his own... roflmao

One more thing, just because a lower is built by the same manufactuer doesnt meand they are all the same quality. Its not just about a logo...

Didnt say it was the cheapest or best route. The OP asked for information on lowers. He needs to understand the difference btw stripped lower and complete lower and his options with both.
