Great way to meet some of your duck hunting neighbors. I have people stop by all the time to chat when they see my duck boat out. I always tell them I shoot all my ducks way up north. grin

so now that you started this . .
I see you have many different flavors (red heads, pintails, gadwalls etc.)
When you set that spread out (assuming your on a big enough water to put them all out) do you group them by species ? mix them all up totally random ? put them out in little "bonded pairs" of 2s and 3s ?

Edgamacate us on just what the best way is to put out that impressive spread !

Honestly I've only ever set up half of them. And I've used ALL OF THE ABOVE. It's all about location/wind I hunt a lot of different places so the different flavors come in handy. I do find myself going to some of the ol standbys...

Redhead/pintails in a group at random off to one side
Mallards paired up
Gaddy and widgeons paired at random
Teal all in a big bunch or circle

sometimes I don't even use dekes, I've shot limits over just a mud hole.

Very nice assortment. Just curious how you ended up with 4 drake and 4 hen Pintails?

I had the whole doz. For some reason I'm very superstitious about my pintail dekes...my person experience has been that they either flare the birds away or bring them in from far off...

either way I sold off about 2 doz dekes yesterday before I took this pic( 2 pair of pintails), plus I have another 6-12 dekes floating around somewhere...either in the truck or shop...haven't located them yet.

Hahaha Heck yeah. I have the same thing happen to me when I bring my air boat home sometimes to work on it or whatever, Its camoed out with Du stickers and clearly set up for duck hunting. Whats the first ? I get.... "So is this your duck hunting boat?" lol I cant help but answer with a chuckle now. I'm gonna use the up north line instead of saying a random lake since I hunt my private land. Like all ur diff species!! and the Heron is like a confidence decoy I have that and a few egrets makes the ducks feel a lil safer to land

Looks like the troops are preparing for war....man I am bored..... snowed in...We were only supposed to get 1 to 2 inches of snow up here in Barneyland and when I woke up we already had about 6 inches and it supposed to snow all day here. Needless to say, I called in this morning....I need to assemble my BWT's I got for Christmas today. They are still in the box.....need some Texas rigs to go with them.

A pretty common 'confidence' decoy. I didn't have room in the budget for the cow.

If you sold off 2 dozen blocks, you've got room for more!

I don't see any coots in there...

Thought for the day: Ducks were almost hunted to extinction long before camo was invented.

Hey! I like the way you think. I've been kicking around do I actually 'BUY' coots, or just get some old crap dekes and paint my own.

OK, here is my question. I would guess that is a Higdon pulsator Mallard? Good or bad review? Worth the money?

No bad days hunting

No it's a home brew cost me around $65 to build. Works great on the days with no wind, I stil prefer a jerk cord some days over the pulsator.
