what does fluting a bolt do? seems like in larger calibers it would weaken it....that is a nice looking rifle. I got several Savage rifles including a .22-250 and a .308 in the 12FV. heavy rifles more suited to deer stand hunting but they are tack driving rifles.

Fluting just shaves a little weight, and looks great!

Fluting the bolt or not does pretty much nothing to affect cation strenght, The front inch or so of the bolt is where the stress is, from the bolt head to the bolt lugs and just bahind them is where the main stress is, the rest of the bolt is jsut a handle to get those into the correct position, hold the firing pin and assist in loading and unloading. Unless you are talking about a rar logged bolt then I wuold never-ever flute a rear locking lug bolt
lf the saying "Liar, Liar your pants on fire" were true Mainstream news might be fun to watch

I guess a "real gun" is one of those shoulder bustin mags or ultra mags most people are afraid to shoot but brag about owning?in Texas the .22-250 will take just about anything unless it is some imported exotic like a nilgai.

you could add somethin in either a blonde, brunette, or redhead to the pic i guess, but other than that the rifle is fine..
In God I trust.. all others are suspect. ;))
