Looking at getting on a deer lease 7 miles south of Sweetwater. Wanting all feedback to make an informed choice.
Thanks in advance!

I hunted a season there, 4 miles east of Sweetwater. Never saw a single deer. Did see one Ostrich. With that being said, I did not do my homework on the place and took it at face value. The area in general is pretty decent.

This is positively a hit and miss area. You can be in an area where there are large bucks (not that many of them though) or an area where there are nothing by coyotes, a few pigs and some turkeys. I've seen some really nice bucks harvested in this area, but have had some friends hunt all year around there without firing a shot.

The deer in that area are small for the most part if ya care.

That ranch has really thick cedar, really rocky, and has lots of pigs. That I do know.

I don't know about small bodies...????
One of my friends shot a huge 10 pointer there that field dressed 184.
Like I said, there aren't a lot of big bucks around there. But, when you see an old buck, he's a definite wall hanger.
We had a ranch out that way until we sold it a couple years back. Lots of pigs, a good quantity of turkey and a few good bucks. But, they sure do go nocturnal when the shooting starts. Lots of pressure in that area from road hunters.

Of course there are exceptions but they are small for the most part, at least in my experience.
