I have heard that JJ with Kent outdoors does a guided hunt/training class type of thing for beginners where he shows the basics as well as guides you on a hunt. May be something to look into for next year maybe?

If you have access to larger farm ponds in those counties you're pretty much set. All you'd really need is a small decoy spread and a blind. Pond hunting doesn't require a lot of calling or using a big sophisticated spread. Either they're comin' or they're not... just gotta find with pond is holdin' 'em. up

Come on over, I owe you a beer.

If they are there, I will kill them.

While I love my life, it's not conducive to running and gunning ducks at the moment. I have a two yr old, three yr old, a wife who wants to relax on the weekends, and I'm looking for a new job.

Maybe next year will be better. up

I'm going to get Charlie steady this off season. No more breaking! Other than that maybe find some hunting buddies that don't complain so much! Cable!

That is it! You have been voted off the island. Gonna miss Charlie though. Guess you don't like being done by 8:30 on the last day of the season...

1. Have my dogs second knee repaired. (first one holding up great)
2. Get old boat ready or buy new one.
3. Find more private land
4. Hunt more

Advice is free, the right answer will cost plenty

I wish I had a retriever. This is an ongoing battle in our household. We currently have one dog. Do you think I could teach her to retrieve? She got this turkey leg for me...

No worries, this is Cable's duck dog.

If that was my dog I would have tied a rock around it and tossed it into the pool. Pretty sure after your wife nuetered you, she made you get rid of your lab (poor Jack) and ya'll got a couple of shitsus.

Make sure your toes have room to wiggle. Wearing boots or waders that are too small will cause you problems.

I've got plenty of room in the boots, I just can't seem to keep them warm. This happens when I deer hunt too. I've tried different kinds of socks, layering socks, and even the foot warmer pads. Maybe I just have poor circulation, I don't know.

Get these..

I would like to average 11 bands per every 75 ducks I shoot.

I would be okay with one band per 75 ducks killed. I have killed over 300 ducks in 5 years in Texas and yet to get a single band!

I also want to take more pictures and post them in order to boost my ego up

I also want to hunt public a couple times because I hear hunting private water is not challenging.
