And 611 of them are hogs!!! A spot that use to be money for turkey is now covered with hogs. They seem to move in and out around this time of year and shooting them is not gonna help. The big traps are set and I am thinking about some high dollar night vision but what else can be done? They are in higher numbers then ever. They use to come in and you'd see em for a while and then be gone. But this year it seems that they have not left......guess this is just a rant, but I think that the days of the Texas turkey are numbered.

Keep in mind that in this area about 12 years ago ZERO hogs. If you dont have them you dont want them!

I hear ya. Same thing at my lease. I get cracked up at folks who say they don't have hogs then put out game cams and get the same results as you did. I call mine the "pig lease".

My wife and I got in her blind last year after deer season and watched the pigs go into the larger trap. Once we had as many as we thought would go in she pulled a 70 yard wire attached to the trap door. I shot the few left on the outside. Man that was alot of fun!! We got the traps going again and are waiting for the pigs to get use to it and its on! Made a video but it got taken down.......good times. Now theres a feeder in the trap so it shouldnt be long.

Hate to hear they are taking over in your area. Luckily we still don't have a pig problem where are ranch is located in Erath.

You don't need to invest in a high dollar night vision setup. Not unless you plan on taking 200 yard shots on moonless nights...

You should be able to use a Gen 2 scope or monocular, depending on your distance from the traps/feeders.

What I find really fun is to hold the monocular in your hand up to your eye and secure your semi auto rifle at waist level (swivel) and zero in a common laser and go Terminator mode!!!

Way cheaper than NV and can be just as effective and fun.

Trap them and sale them man. After you do that for a while you can use that money to buy yourself those high dollar night vision optics. It's not insane to make $1000 on a good month right now. There is a guy in Cross Plains buying the hell out of them.

I say you throw a party. You buy all the food, beer and set up a campsite. Then post the date for all of us to come and clear them out. What do you think ?? Let me know when !!

How many of those hogs reappeared in other photos? You should crack open a 12 pack and casually do a census with your photos. Should not be too hard since pigs move in family groups. After awhile you should be able to guesstimate how many pigs you have.

Pigs eat baby turkeys. Matter of fact they eat anything thats a baby. You need to come up with a comprehensive plan to kill as many pigs as possible. Sooner the better.

All these people over ran with hogs.. I can barely find a place to shoot one for a decent price.. Looks like I am in the wrong part of TX
