I just acquired a savage 340 30-30, Stock is cracking and Im looking for a replacement, I was told that the stevens 325 and the 340 were a match for stock replacement. Does anybody have any suggestions, know were to locate a cheapo replacement? Gun isnt worth much so Im not in the market for a 150 dollar stock.

The Savage 340, Stevens 325 and the Springfield 840 are one in the same. I searched all over for a spare stock and had little luck. I can usually buy a complete gun for around $150-200, so i figured finding a stock would be no problem. I tried Ebay and the stocks on there sold for over $100.00 when they were available. I guess they are old enough that nobody made a synthetic for it so replacements are hard to come by.

looks like maybe epoxy and some wood bond for my old 340. lol.

Taking a blank stock and hand crafting sure would be neat if a person had a lot of spare time, maybe start project with my kid, let him build this gun up for him to have.

Question, how much do gunsmiths usually charge to tap and drill? I have to get another savage 340 tapped for a side mount.Still has the Dockendorff adjustable tail sights.
