Cabelas has the Remington VTR, SPS .308 tactical, and Savage Choate tactical on sale. I can't make up my mind as to which one I want. I would like to hear your first hand experience with these rifles especially if you have shot/owned more than one of them.
Thanks,
Steve

I can tell you that they do NOT have any of the SPS tacticals in stock right now. I went by there today to get one and they were sold out. They wouldnt even let me pay some money down to hold one.

Edit, I called them again just for grins at 8pm and they had 3 left. I made a quick trip and I got mine. Its ready to go be broke in tomorrow.

Sportsman, thanks for the heads up.
Drock, where is the Sporting Arms in Lewisville? I haven't heard of them before but I'll check them out.

both are great guns, more readily availabe after market goodies for the remington and much easier to get parts for.. the prob for savage is every time someone tools up to build top end stocks and other stuff for savage rifles they chng their configuration (screw spacing, lug size, etcetc..) or at least that used to be the case.. for the money remington is still tops with me especially if i am gonna use it for a project later, or may wanna resale it. but as for pure shooting i have had excellent luck with both the savage model 10 fp, and model 12's, my best luck with the remingtons have come from a milspec ss 5r and a LTR. good luck keep us posted.

In God I trust.. all others are suspect. ;))

I bought the savage Choate tac. Pretty accurate. No complaints other than it is heavy as [censored].
