I am absolutely amazed at how bad our cuddeback cameras work. I personally own 9 cuddeback cameras. Seven are the Capture 1125 and two are the Capture IR version and none of them work well. We are continuely sending them back to cuddeback for repair and in most cases they say they are out of warranty and simply want to sell us another camera. The IR versions are the worst, we can not keep batteries in them, they last a couple of days and then go dead. cuddeback says there is nothing wrong with them after their inspection of them. Several of my friends are using the same cameras and are having the same problems. They just don;t work well and they certainly don't last. Most we have gotten out of them is a couple of seasons but most fail after one year and we house them is specially made boxes in the field to protect them from rain and excess bumping from animals. I sat at several feeders this year and saw deer (bucks) at the feeder for up to 40 minutes and when I went down to pull the card to show my hunters the bucks that were there...guess what? NO pictures of any of those deer...so just how fast is the cuddeback trigger speed? Wow, sorry I am so negative but I am so feed up with cuddeback. Is anyone else having these same problems? cuddeback says they don't have these problems with anyone else..I am the only one. I knew I was special

I've tried most of the brands out there at one time or another, and they all seem to be very prone to failure. I've finally decided to just buy inexpensive cameras (I look for sales) and plan on replacing them every 2 to 3 years. Right now I've got a mix of Wildgame Innovations and Primos cameras.

Lots of folks talk bad about them, but we have 5 or 6 Stealthcam rougue ir's. They take great pics, never used the video feature, are really easy on bateries(we have the 12V adapter for it) and are pretty easy to set up. Ours are going on 2 years and some 3 years old and still trucking.

I have had 4 of the regular flash cuddeback capture for over 3 years, and the only problme I have had with them is the oring in the cover drying out, and moisture getting inside. cuddeback sent me a few new orings, and it seemed to fix the issue.
I know the cameras do miss photos though, but every camera I've owned misses them too. easiest way for me to tell is look at how much corn is on the ground inbetween photos. sometimes there will be a 10 minute gap in photos, and a lot of corn is gone...
I went through the moultrie I-40 fiasco, and finally got rid of them. that's a great camera except the lcd screen goes out in them. I bought a couple of the primos cameras, and the photo quality is total [censored]... night time photos you can barely tell what's there.

I guess that depends, if our deer and hogs dont come, there will be 40 to 50 quail there in a heart beat, they will mop up the corn and dont set of the cams.
But I agree, all cameras miss deer.

I have used a lot of different cams in the past 18 yrs. CamTracker in the old 35mm days was a good camera, Penns Woods digitals were very expensive but had no issues with them ever, used the older Moultrie flash models from 6 years ago and they worked great but ate batteries, have the new Moultries and they work well but picture quality is really bad and hate their IR models, have used the Cuddeback Expert in the flash model and they work great but in time they will need to get worked on and when they cost $150 to repair I trade them in for a Cuddeback Capture and it is a good camera but with the use they get at over 1000 pics per week they need repair in time also, all the Cuddes are great on batteries and have terrific color pics which I need to see detail and judge deer by. From what I have learned about cameras they are built cheaper and cheaper as time goes on and none I have researched work perfect. The best reviews I get from friend on cameras are the Reconyx, but for now I am sticking with what I have in the Cuddeback. As redchevy posted due to the cone shape of motion sensor on cameras if you have them set at waste level and shooting level small game can walk under the sensor and not set it off. But I do know all cameras miss game from time to time. I have watched deer on corn in front of my house and had 7 bucks there eating in front of the cameras set on 5 minute delay I think. When I checked the camera (film type years ago) and got the pics back I only had 4 of the bucks in all of the pics that were there. They would all be in front of the camera but it was not ready to take a pic and when it did they had just drifted out of the frame.

I only have one Cuddeback Capture and it is fantastic. The battery life is incredible. The only problem I've had with mine is its ability to sense when the flash needs to come on. I get some pictures that are a little dark because it needed to flash and didn't. Have you ever tried yours without the specially made boxes you mentioned?

I used 4 (borrowed)Cuddebacks when I was guiding in W. Tex. for MD. I had them set on feeders and didnt realize how many deer I weren't getting pics of until I set up a Plotwatcher camera that took a pic every 5 secs. I wasn't getting pics of many of the deer that walked in front of the camera.
Isn't the best way to save face to keep the lower part shut?

My cuddeback seems to be alright used it for 2 seasons. I do know it misses some deer and noticed this year that the range is alot closer than I thought it was. Where I was bowhunting I had my camera set about 35 to 40 ft. off of a road going through the timber, the land owner cleared some brush along the road, he sid he made 40 to 50 trips by my camera with his bobcat and not 1 pic of him. I figured it should have picked up movement by somthing as big as a bobcat tractor at that distance.
Death is certain and the end is always near.

I have 3 Cuddebacks. The older model Cuddeback Excite is about twice as good as the newer Captures. The Captures seem to take a lot of pictures of absolutely nothing. They're better that most other brands but I'm no longer real impressed with them.
I can't afford a Reconyx and have had bad experiences with Moultrie, Wildgame, Stealth, etc.

They all suck. By that I mean you can get a good one of model x from any manufacturer and your buddy can go buy the same model x and it will be a pos. It is a total crap shoot. I have tried a bunch of them in all price ranges and the best one I have is the Cuddeback. Never one problem, takes great pics, and is easy on batteries. Doesnt miss deer like my other cameras. I just got lucky and got a good one. The only camera I have heard zero complaints about is the Reconyx. I need about 30 cameras so I cant afford them.

You can get a week out of a set of batteries in the Plot Watcher if you turn it down to a pic every 10 seconds instead of every 5 seconds.
