I've got access to a couple of stockponds around central texas that often have duck on them. However, every time I have hunted them, nothing comes in and I never see ducks flying around. What causes them to fly? Seems like there are always ducks flying at the coast.

Hunt it in the evening, might be a roost pond or a mid day pond

watch it on a non-hunting day see what time, if at all, they come in, it might be one they use if they are pushed off the big water

BC My experience this year with farm tanks has been a bust because of the drought conditions. The water levels were very low all summer. They came up for short time after the tropical storm blew through, but started dropping the next week again. The low water levels meant that there was not good/easy access to food. Ducks will not stay around with out a buffet to feed from.
