Doh !
ya forgot to mention that key factor
and cnc can do one piece items with a zero tolerance
as in the bolt and reciever with flat base for better action to stock fitment and integral locking lug,
doh forgot that one too

Is "fitment" a word?

People have been making FINE guns for years before technology got in the way...

And yes FINE is even better than your preciouse vanguard blush

Oh and by the way the only time I have ever had a problem with factory ammo was in my vanguard. I bought a box of 180 grain soft points (weatherby ammo in a weatherby(vanguard) gun) After shooting the box on about half of the empties you could no longer read the headstamp.

Vanguard actions, or Howa, are great actions no doubt. But they are very heavy. Add to the fact there are 10x more Remington parts available and the Weatherby/Howa action just has to slide to second place. I'm not even counting resale value into the equation which the Remington 700 has in spades over the Weatherby or Howa.

If I'm buying a rifle or action these days, it will be a 700.

For those who said Brownings are in the mix: Ya'll need to get out a bit more.

Be careful now. I got my expertise from Field and Stream magazine...

Barrel and receiver?

I'm simply stating why Howa/Weatherby actions come in second place. All you gotta please if yourself my friend and if Howa/Weatherby's do it for you then I'm happy.

Another thing that drives me nuts about Howa's is that their factory "sporter" barrel is substantially larger/heavier than Remington's factory sporter barrel.

Nothing like running a 10 pound factory rig.
