On the way down to South Texas we stopped at The Little Czech Bakery on I35 in WEST Texas just North of Waco.

Excellent kolaches, I especially liked the mapel twist and the hot chubby.

They are open 24 hrs.

DUDES.. the really good kolaches are in town. Stay away from the highway locations. Take the 353 exit and head east for a few blocks into down town and try the Village Bakery. Much higher quality fare.

Village Bakery closes way early. They both taste good to me. Even better a day later when you find one between the seat.

I love me some kolaches!

What's the name of that Czech/German restaurant in town there in West?

By the way, two other dang good places to get kolaches are at Zamykal Kolaches in Calvert (Hwy 6 about 60 miles south of Waco) and Green's Sausage House (Hwy 53 in Zabcikville--just outside of Temple).

I NEVER head up I-35 without stopping there!!

The Deli sandwiches are great too and the HUGE cinnamon rolls are too good to describe!

Sulak's? It closed down but there is a sauage house that is pretty good and the Czech American cafe is a place to go along with the Pizza house for a SKUNK EGG!!! Got have have a couple of them with the REAL RANCH dressing too!!!!! Geriks bakery is right beside the Pizza house.

For any of you wanting a GREAT taco or burrito there is a little stand right beside the hotel ACROSS I-35, on the west side) that will melt you especially if you get the salsa verde. They only take cash and barely speak english so you know it is good.

Sausage, cheese and jalapeno are great. So are all the fruit kolaches, and poppyseed ones are excellent. I need to drive up to Dallas again.

Turkey and baby swiss on homemade bread reminds me of my youth.

Love the chubbies and cinn rolls.

Yep.. almost every year. Usually a 2 day hangover, but it's way worth it.
BTW.. the Czech-American in downtown West has the best cabbage rolls you'll ever wrap your teeth around.

love it! i stop there everytime.

you have to get a cinnonmon roll and have them heat it up for you. so delicious.

its part of the gas station on the east side of 35. don't pass it up!

they even have a store next door that is day old food. its cheaper and it tastes just as good.

they have everything!
