so tell me why a rem 700 is better than a weatherby vanguard.
I know of one reason it looks better but other than that i cant think of another reason.

Is it the rem 5 piece bolt or the vanguards one piece forged, fluted and gas ported bolt
is it the barstock reciever or the hammer forged machined reciever of the vanguard.
Is it the rems crappy in house barrel or vanguards custom kreiger hammer forged barrel.
so what makes rem better ? Oh I know its easier to replace all the parts it needs to compare to a vanguard
hammer
Buy rem, replace the bolt , get action squared and trued, replace barrel or by a vanguard

It prob will. I don't know so much about the new Vanguards, but you could get some real tack drivers in the old model. All you had to do was ask to see the factory target... It can only get better form there.
Remington sucks way worse than the Vanguards. With Remington, life is like a box of chocolates. You just never know what you're gonna get. crazy

That's just because you dont know what the hell you're doing anyway. grin

I've bought 3 Vanguards off of the forum here, that have been great shooters. In fact, all three of them shot BETTER than my Accumark.

no reason to own a remmy with something wrong with it...send it back, get it fixed if there is a problem or make them replace it. Very simple process, one of my newest ones should be back by the end of the month. hammer

actually it shoots decent, I just can't stand that they look and feel like cheap pieces of dung. Was supposed to be for my wife so she would give me back my XCR, but no such luck....FIL took pity on me and got me a new XCR in the same caliber for christmas.

I had a low end Vanguard that shot sub moa. They guarantee at 1 1/2 moa at 100 yards but you have to do your part in that. It takes a bit to get use to the trigger. The factory trigger setting is at at 3 1/4lb so they say, but in the manual it said it could not be set any lower than that which is a bummer. Sad to let mine go but need the money to pay for ACL surgery.

i put the vanguard at a tie with browning as far as the best actions i have owned. i really like it with the 3 way safety from timney. i have never owned, but like the sako and weatherby mark actions as well.

i have owned: remington 700's, savage, winchester crf and pushfeed, browning and vanguard.

i bought my vanguard 257 wby to build on, but decided against it for the time being as it has been shooting really good. so i am going to improve the stock, duracoat it, add removeable brake and upgrade the optics to the minox on the dnz mount.

The accumark and vanguard are different products? They both can and are shooters. On the other hand, there is no dispute that the 700 action holds more records, it the most customized action around, and if you call most of the barrel makers---they all say start with that action.

By the way, the accumark I have is serial number "666"-I really don't even aim it, I just tell it what I want to kill, and death appears.

Actually the barrel on the vanguard is not Kreigor..its a company owned by kreigor to mass produce barrels... nevertheless nothing wrong with the vanguards....they are just like all mass produced rifles...some are tack drivers some suck..same with remington.

I actually hate the stocks on remington and vanguard..

My remi's in 257 and 243 are tack drivers... my browning 300 mag is a 1.5 gun...
My dads remi 270 is 1.5 in gun...

Funny thing is the most accurate guns I have shot non mod...are a browning abolt in 270wsm and a styer 7-08...

Personally for a non mod'ed production gun try to beat styer overall and it will be hard.

X2 I,ll send you my address. Really, I prefer Remmys and have never had one that did not shoot good. I have a VLS in 7MM-08 that will digest any load you put in it. I have taken in a few trades on Vanguards that shot well but I just didnt care for them. When I buy a W'by I buy a Mark V, I just like them better.

x2 for browning, it has by far the smoothest action of all my guns, and I never have to worry about the knob coming up and hitting the scope
