Will send prayers. News clip said he was walking a fence line. A felon carrying a gun, walking a fence line and shooting over a property line, plus shot at movement. Hang him.

IMO, it's never an accident when someone willfully pulls the trigger. Negligent homicide in the very least. This is one where a very thorough investigation of all those involved, including their relationships known and unknown, is clearly necessary.
Thoughts and prayers for the wife and children. X2. No excuse when it comes to handeling a fire arm. Very sad for the family and kids.

PRAYERS FOR THE FAMILY. I LIVE WITHIN JUST A FEW MILES OF WHERE THIS HAPPENED. THIS WAS WAYYYY TO CLOSE FOR COMFORT. ONE REASON I LOVE THE HUNTER ORANGE LAWS IN OTHER STATES! IT IS SO IMPORTANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU ARE SHOOTING AT! MAKE VISUAL CONTACT WITH THE TARGET.
THE STORIES IN THE NEWS HAVE BEEN ALL OVER THE PLACE. AGE IS DIFFERENT IN EACH ONE,41 OR 66........ LIVED IN FT WORTH OR OVERTON........ VERY SAD REPORTING FROM THE NEWS.
He was 41 years old, not 66 and he lived in Overton, not Ft. Worth. From what I heard this morning, he was not walking around in the brush. He was at camp sitting on a cooler when he was shot. No excuse for that. YES, I SAW THAT THEY HAD CORRECTED THE STORY AND THAT THE GUY THAT DID THIS WAS TEH ONE FROM FT WORTH. THANKS FOR CLEARING IT UP. THERE IS NO ESCUSE FOR WHAT HAPPENED! I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT HE WAS IN CAMP!!! THAT IS CRAZY!

So incredibly sad. I'm praying with the rest for this family!

Most shooting accidents don't occur while hunters are in their stands but somewhere else.

"thought he seen what was a deer" that is the key. it should of said heard a bush rattle seen something and shot. if your going to check out a deer or what ever with a scope, why was the gun on fire? why was the finger on the trigger? being convicted of a felon could mean many things. carelessness is what it boils down too. as some mentioned some people should not be in the wood hunting.
sorry to hear about the guy getting shot. that is a real bad deal. will keep his family in our prayers. This is something that I always use as a discussion point in my Hunter Education classes. Using a pc projector, I show the class a photo that shows a tripod stand hidden in some brush. It is very difficult to identify, and usually only two or three participants can point it out. Then I show the class a close-up photo that shows the stand more clearly. Next, I ask the class to point out the deer in the photo. I have never had a class where no less than a half-dozen participants claim they see the deer. After a few minutes, I inform them there is no deer in the photo. This leads into a discussion of when you "know" that what you see is a deer. After all, just as in this case, unless the act is criminal, the shooter obviously took a shot at a deer that he/she "thought" was there. Just "thinking" you see a deer never cuts it. You must "know" that what you see is without ANY doubt, a wild animal.

Verysad thing when a fellow hunter is taken like that by the hands of another person who in my opinion has no business in the woods with a gun. Prayers up to u an to his wife and kids.
