City-slicker uncle invites some rich guy to our lease to shoot his first deer. We were ok with it, didn't think much since there's always deer around.

Guy starts firing off rounds out of no where and we're at camp kind like: bang

Calls us: "I GOT TWO!"

We hop in the truck, happy for the guy of course. Pull up. He leads us to where the "deer" are. Not only did he manage to kill a nice 10 pt yearling that had been on our pass list since the season started. He also bagged himself one of my dad's best Beefmaster calves. loco_too bang realmad

My face when I tracked the calf's blood trail to find him laying in some cactus-

Charge that guy an arm and a leg for shooting the calf.
B*** slap him and remove his man card.
Never invite him to anything ever again!

Oh no, That's just about as bad as it gets right there. Only way things could have been worse would have been if the guy hurt himself.

So, Who is keeping that calf? You or the "hunter?"

Sounds like he shouldn't have been in a stand by himself.

We kept the calf, at the very least he'll make good eating.

Not sure how he confused the calf for a deer? Apparently in his excitement he looked up and saw another animal sticking out and fired.

Safe to say he won't be going back. confused2

Honestly, that's why we didn't get mad at him. Our fault for trusting him alone.

That's why we have a rule that guests must be accompanied at all times.

Next time I'm giving the dude blanks and having one of the ranch hands hide in the woods dressed like a deer.

$12K for a BM bull calf sounds like a reasonable price + processing costs.
