All this talk about Win. Experts has got me thinking about which shell patterns the best for Browning BPS shotgun. I've used Experts and Kent's which of course Kent's kick butt. Is there anything else that might work well? I've heard horror stories about Remington's new Hypersonic's, has anyone tried these in a Browning pump?

A buddy of mine shoots the Hypersonics and wouldn't comment on how hard they kick when I talked to him last; about 2 weeks ago, but he did say he was using ZERO lead out to about 40 yards. Basically he told me he just put the bead of the shotgun on their beak and pulled the trigger and ducks hit the water. I hurt my shoulder shooting Experts a couple of years ago and it took me about 6 months to get over it. I don't think I will be trying them ( Hypersonics) any time soon by some of the comments I have heard on here by other hunters.

Doesn't matter what kind of brand or gun your shooting. Every single gun will pattern differently. My BPS won't pattern the same as your BPS. To be honest with you Xperts might pattern best in your piece. You never know till you put em on the board. I've been killin birds this long I don't need a faster shell to do it.

We run a Black Cloud set up that we spent a lot of time at the range perfecting. Steel shot can be real persnickety about patterning right without huge gaps that the birds can slip through @ 30 and 40 yards. You have to work with chokes, brands of shells, load sizes, shot sizes, and powder charges to perfect it. I talked to one person on here that was frustrated with all this because he couldn't get 3 inch loads to give him a good pattern. He ran out of shells one day and was forced to use 2-3/4 ". They tested with them and found out their gun performed flawlessly with the shorter shell and they kept on using them.

If what you're doing is killing birds at a rate that makes you happy then the time to try new loads and choke combos starts in February in my opinion. Fussing with a formula that works mid-season could just lead to a frustrating hunt.
For what its worth I tried the Hypersonics this year and have had great success with them. I've now been shooting both that load and the Kent 1 1/8 #3's which are my go to shells. I can't comment on the recoil of the Hypersonics- I don't notice any difference when I'm shooting at moving birds. I also shoot an Auto-5 so I'm not shooting 3 1/2 either...
