What are some of the crazy things that your dogs do?

My oldest Lab, Dixie, will not come in the house unless she grabs a bumper from the garage. Even after a weekend of hunting, she will run in the garage and grab a bumper out of one of the buckets to bring in with her. Dang bumper slut.

One of mine is constantly getting into things around the house like things on the counter, dirty clothes and carries them around. Sometimes he'll bring them to me, sometimes he just wants me to chase him around. Oh he also bounces off the ground up and down when I come home from all fours.

The other dog when he wants me to get out of bed, will stand there and stare at me until I get up. He does that when he wants to be fed and am watching TV or like now am on the puter and I can feel him standing behind be staring. Very annoying. Imagine a dog getting right in your face and just staring. Weird.

Mine first thing in the morning will walk into the living room, stretch, and let out this rolling growl that turns into a full on howl for a few seconds. Then he proceeds about his day. I think he likes to announce to everybody when he wakes up.

This is just 1 of about a million crazy things my dog does.

i have one that licks, bad. imagine being half asleep in a recliner and the stupid dog comes up and licks your fingers, or worse your foot.

another one likes to stash stuff, to include his food pan. half the time feeding time turns into a scavenger hunt.

My pointer does what I call the "ballerina poop". He has to spin in a circle 3 or 4 times before he lets it go.

We let our 14-month old Lab try sleeping outside of her crate on her dog bed on the floor on my side of the bed about a week ago. My wife was getting sick of the crate in the master bathroom...Lilly (dog, not wife) has done really well and has even stuck to her schedule of needing to hit the backyard at 0500. When in the crate she would paw at the door until I took her out. The past several nights/mornings, however, I've come awake with that feeling like someone was looking at me only to open my eyes and be, very literally, nose to nose with Labrador.

I tried to outlast her a couple of times over the long weekend. I'd wake up with that feeling and barely crack one eye open to see if she was there. She never moved once she stood there and started staring.

Lilly (dog, not wife) also snores like no dog I've ever heard. Come to think of it, the snoring might not be her after all...

Mine always has to have something to carry in her mouth. She also does the staring thing also for various things. One being she will stare as in asking permission to get on the bed or couch until I tell her an answer. Another being every night she expects a treat at 11 and she knows where they are...she will sit and stare at me, I will look at her and she will cut her head to the treats and back at me. She also expects a scoop of food after a hunt and she won't leave me alone until she gets it. Here recently after hunts she likes to stare at me and cut her head at a little space heater we have until I turn it on and she will lay in front of it. She does alot of crazy things, I'd be typing all day. She's definitely a character. grin

She's actually staring at me right now. laugh

Mombasa (Anatolian Guard Dog) - Stands taller than me when on the hind. When in the kennel, will stand up, hold onto the kennel panel, then tilt his hips in and sway them side to side. Being of rare black Kangal heritage, he looks like he's wearing a tuxedo. I think he's secretly a Chippendales Dog.

Rusty - Compulsive retrieving. All day long, bringing me things... ANY thing! If I take it from him and put it up, he'll just go get something else. Will do this over and over and over....

Mia - face starer. RIGHT in your face.

Rascal - will 'hold' onto me when I'm scratching her belly - she picks up both paws and 'holds' my wrist. Really cute.

She is also the most verbal dog I've ever known... little grunts, groans, whines... all kind of little noises. She shakes and lets out little whimpers at the end of each 'shiver' when we're hunting - not from cold, but from sheer excitement.

Sarge - aka "slobber jowels" will lay those big, slobbery, jowels on your lap, mattress, chair arm... absolutely SOAKING it, until he gets your attention. Literally need a towel after a 'Sarge slobbering.'

Rascal
- she likes other girls. I'm embarrassed to admit it, but she growls at the boys but REALLY likes the girls. Then again, what did I expect? I imported her from California. My son calls it 'californicating.'

Commander - the 'walk 'n' poop' maneauver... prefers to leave a trail, rather than a pile.

Stick eating - seems to be a favorite of several dogs. We have a 'no sticks in the house' rule because we'll otherwise find 'stick shrapnel' everywhere. All dogs must be frisked for sticks before entry.

We have 3...

Piper, a cocker spaniel not worth anyone to us that is little about 19lbs and choclate/white mix. She is a cute little thing and plays her cuteness to her advantage. She is a bitcher...meaning if she wants something she barks constantly until she gets it or I get on her about it. Little yipe bark that is fairly harmless but will annoy if left unnoticed. She also almost always sleeps on her back with her legs sticking straight up in the air. Also, anything new brought into the house she will notice and be skidish and bark at until convinced and shown it is okay.

Charlie, another cocker not worth anything but a good dog. He barks at everything and no matter what we feed or don't feed is heavy...he stays in the high 30lbs. Food driven and is the watch dog barks at everything. He knows the habits and reads things when we are leaving he goes and sits in his crate ready for his treat.

Oakley, the duck dog is food driven too but wants to please which is completely unlike the other two they are out for themselves grin . She is a licker and a noise maker. Oak knows days I am going hunting by when I get up in the morning and will walk around at heel until I leave and either take her or leave her. She also takes everything outside...a chew toy a bone or anything she wants it outside away from the cockers. They have a dog door so they come and go as they please. Every other week when the mowers come I have to do a yard sweep and pick up all the dog bones and toys that she might've taken outside. She wants to retrieve everything and will constantly until you just tell her know. She is without a doubt the best dog I have ever owned.

Needless to say we have 3 distinct personalities and 3 spoiled rotten dogs...but I wouldn't have it any other way. wink They are our kids.

Cash will turn the kitchen lights on and off.

June knows Cash is not allowed on my bed.
If Cash tries to sneak on my bed June will start barking til he gets off.

I have a pointer that will sit like a statue and stare at me. If I look at him he will start waggin his tail and groaning at me, when I look away he sits back down. This is how I wake up every morning and it drives my old lady crazy.

My lab, Doc, used to lay on the couch next to me. If my wife came and sat next to me, he'd walk up and just stare at her until she moved. Then, he'd crawl up and lay down. Drove the wife crazy.

lol my gf came home early tonight and my dog was in a mood whining, staring at me and what not. Couldn't figure it out until I told her to go lay down and she jumped up and layed down on the couch where my gf was laying down almost on top of her. I guess the gf was in her spot lol.

Another one for me...Journey, one of my female Vizsla's, will open doors. If she gets put in a room and the door is closed, she can turn the knob and open the door. She can do this either way, open and pull to her, she stands up and puts one paw on the wall and the uses her other paw to operate the handle, pulls the door to her, and out she goes...I really need to get that on video. Opening the door that swings away is too easy for her, she can get the door open in seconds. Crazy dogs...

My male choc. lab will "hump" his dog bed in front of the TV every night. Now that it's cold out he will drag his bed through the dog door and do his thing outside. He picks up one end and holds it with his teeth and straddles the other end.

When he's done and tired our female golden/collie mix will get on top of him and "hump" his head. She can only do it when he's really tired.

Those are funny, but what's sad is if you take just about all of them and put them together(minus Mombasa, because Cali is a lab and doesn't wear a tux) you get my Calihammer talk about some headaches sometimes!

She also loves to stretch completely out when she lays down...

My pitbull LOVES river rocks and logs. He goes into this wierd trnace like mania where he rolls them around and licks them and tries to get his teeth around them and shred the logs and all the while he's making the wierdest noises that range from whimpers to shrieks to barks. I have to really get close to him and "own" the rock or log to keep him from bloodying his chin all to hell but he still wants to get them. And he will sleep with his head on any part of my body that he can get to. If I roll over he'll let his head ride it out and he stays in the exact same position. He cracks me up all the time with his eccentricities.

My Aussy Shepherd/Great Pyranese will climb into trees trying to get at the squirrels. That girl has NO fear of heights. She also has this thing with smaller females. She wants to kill all of them. She was a rescue dog so I'm thinking a small female dog used to beat the crap out of her all the time. She's a super sweet girl though.

We had a yellow lab that would do the same with his blanket. It was hilarious how determined he was. rofl

Gretchen(pit bull) chases 4wheelers and tries to bite the tires. I can't keep her in the yard. She jumps the fence or gets under the house and comes out in the front yard. She tries to catch the water coming out of the hose and if you spin it in circles she will chase it. She will try to attack the deer head hanging on the wall. She digs massive holes in the yard trying to get a mole or gopher. Her whole head will be buried! The funniest thing she does is lay on her back and pedal her back feet like she's riding a bike. She has to sleep in bed with my son and will pace the floor on the nights he's not here. But, she has to be under the covers. It's the sweetest thing.
Mojo-lab; eats snow, follows my husband around and only listens to him, poops wherever he is walking. He watches us playing the wii and thinks we are throwing something when we bowl so he runs around looking for it. Last night he picked up his dinner bowl and carried it to my husband. We gave him a chew toy but he went and got his bowl again and chewed on it, even though it's metal.
Watching these two dogs def. makes a person understand that each dog carries it's own personality and just because you pick one particular breed doesn't mean they all act the same.
