confusedIf i'm reading this correctly no one here seems to be a fan of the ballistic tips. Got a Weatherby Vanguard and sighted it in with these and now I'm thinking I pood the scrooch. Are yall saying they are coming apart and still not doing enough damage on the organs?

I used them for a couple of years in my .270win, and heres what I found.

1. the 130gr didnt seem to drop deer quite like the 140gr, for some reason the 140gr was hitting deer like thors hammer. Or at least it was with doe, but bucks would often not leave a blood trail.

2. While I never lost a deer with them, on marginal shots, or especially ones that were head on or hit the shoulder blade they didnt seem to hold up well enough to leave a blood trail.

3. If you make a good shot and only take ethical shots they are more than fine I just prefer the Accubonds in 140gr for my .270win and have never seen them do anything but perform flawless and the same goes for guys that I know who have 270wsm and are using the 140gr accubonds.

I wouldnt go out and buy new bullets, just try out the balistic tips and when you run out give the accubonds a try; they are awesome and cost less than partitions.

I know alot of people dont like bt's but i have been shooting them for awhile now and i like them. I have never lost an animal using bts or any other bullet..I have noticed that nosler bt's in my 708 will penetate and then destroy the inside, leaving no exit but if you do your part on the first shot you dont have anything to worry about, i have seen my friend shoot a buck with 7mm mag w/ bt's that was hit high and it ran for close to 100yds, just a bad shoot and when its a bad shoot it doesnt matter what bullet your using you wont like the results

I have shot two deer this year with different bullets in my savage 270wsm. Barnes TSX and hornady v-max. Both in the 110 gr weight. Both bucks dropped. I mean not one step. The hornady did not pass through but the barnes did, mainly because of how the barnes is designed. I like hollow points and ballistic tips. It's all about how it performs in your gun and what you are comfortable in.

Ballistic Tips tend to be very accurate but at higher velocities the do come apart and act like a hand grenade. They kill but tear up lots of meat. Personally, I like them and use them in moderate velocity cartridges like the 243 and 308 Winchester.

I think if you jump up to the 140 gr. accubond you will be happier if it groups good.

I've been using Winchester Ballistic Tips for several years.
I shot 115 gr in my .25-06 with no issues.
Killed many deer and hogs with it.
Bought a new .280 this past offseason.
I have shot a nice big bodied panhandle 9pt and a big south texas boar with 140grs this year so far. Both dropped in their tracks.
I like them alot.
