I have see threads on doing it, I will look for them. I think you have to add US parts to make it 922R compliant if I remember correctly.

and here we go.

Yes and No.

Yes you can convert a SKS to take AK mags, but you are talking about alot of machining work.

This guy makes a piece that mounts to the SKS and while im not 100% sure it will take AK mags I know it will take modified Tapco 20 round mags

The No part is you have to look into the 922r compliance issue.

Save yourself the trouble, if you want it to take AK mags, spend the extra money on the SKS D or SKS M (China) that already take AK Mags, but expect to spend 450-500$ on one if you can find it.

Agree with LS6TT

Prob be cheaper to just buy one, or even an AK. Ak's can be had for 400 and less these days as well.

+1

I looked into it, it was alot of work. Easier to buy a SKS D or M model, but now ak's are cheaper still.

Yep. Most folks who want an AK and only have an SKS spend a few hundred trying to get the SKS as close as possible. Not worth the effort IMO. I did it and in the end put it all back the way it was supposed to be. I am much happier with it now.
