I cannot seem to find any ballistic info on this gun. Curious to know what is the effective range on WT deer size animal. Don't want to try it and end up just wounding an animal. Size of the gun makes it real convenient to carry in my utv. Love the gun and have shot it and hit water bottles at 100 yds +/- but. would the +P ammo make it effective

Im not sure if that gun will handle the higher pressure loas. If it can I think you could shoot stuff out to 75 yards or so with good shot placement.

With good ammunition at 100 yards you should be fine. The corbon 200 gr load will do 1400 fps out of a 16" barrel.
I have the same rifle in .44 mag and it is my favorite gun. Longest kill was 80 yards on a 150 lb sow with a 200 gr bullet doing 1250 fps, and it penetrated both shoulders.

45 Colt is a very cool cartridge in a levergun. I have a Marlin 1894S but not the standard "S". Mine is from a run of 500 configured as a Guide Gun model with a ported 16 1/4" barrel. I suspect that about 90% of the whitetail hunting in Texas could be handled by these carbines in 357 Mag, 41 Mag, 44 Mag, and 45 Colt. I shoot a 290-grain cast bullet out of my carbine.

Good rifles, I have one in 44Mag that was my Fathers, he killed most of his deer with that gun. He dropped a lot of deer with it out to about 175 yards. It is best inside 150 yards. You shouold be fine with the 45 cold inside 100.
My fav truck gun is a Marlin 1894 Stainless with Laminated stock 16.25 inch barrel, 1 of 250 made. With it I feel comfortable out to 150 yards for pigs or deer. With my eyes it now wears a 2X7 Nikon.

That gun is on my wish list and they aren't easy to come by. When I do find them they are always more than I am willing to pay. But someday....

I traded a relatively expensive shotgun (rem 11-87 super mag) to my brother for it. I have a Vaquero .45colt and obviously I've never quite grown out of the "cowboys and native american" thing

I added a Williams 5D peep and a gold bead front sight to mine and I love it. The only gripe I had with the rifle was the factory sights...
BTW, if you're wanting to add a peep, you don't have to pay $70 for the combo, just order a .538 front sight (if the front sight is dovetailed directly into the barrel) and the 5D94SE peep. They're about $43 for the pair from Midway, and who wants a fiber optic sight on a levergun anyway?

I have a 94 Trapper in 45 LC and it is a tack driver with whatever I shoot. I have a Leupold 4X mounted to it. I have taken two smaller hogs with it and they both ran farther than I thought they would. I was shooting Winchester HP and both slugs were recovered on the other side of the hide. The shots were both around 50 yards and the slugs did not show much expansion. Good blood trail and would use on whitetail if I could only see one.

It was Winchester cowboy loads, plain lead bullets. Shot most of them and then reloaded the brass with Rainer leadsafe bullets.

Usually order mine when I need some, do not shoot much since I got rid of the Cowboy action 94 in 45LC.

Shoulda known you were a caster, where else would you get a 295 gr boolit...

For you 357 Mag guys, I've started working on a bullet specifically for it in the 1894 series. Should have all the testing done and the bullet molds should be available sometime in the spring. That will cover the 1894 chambered in 357 Mag, 41 Mag, 44 Mag, and 45 Colt.
