The Versa Max performed flawlessly today. It was a little picky about which shells it liked at first (Had an issue with Kent #3s last week where the gun fired the first two times I pulled the trigger and then that was all she wrote, pulled the trigger and NADA. Noticed I somehow did get some mud in the chamber but I was still ticked. Put the gun up and took pics the rest of the morning.
Talked to Remington on the phone, told them I would clean it really well and try to use it one more time before writing it off completely. Cleaned it, took it out to a field in Frisco last night and rifled off 3 3 1/2 BB's. Then 3 Kent #3s before finishing off with nine 2 3/4 dove loads. I think it needed to be broken in a bit. Will let you know how it does the rest of the season.

you should be shooting Remington ammo!
Tell them to send you a couple cases so that you can properly test that firearm.

Could be I guess. My Stoeger didn't like them...but then it didn't really like any shells come to think of it.
I will say the gun is very comfortable, It comes with 5 choke tubes and I am enjoying using the one dubbed "Flooded Timber Choke". Not nearly as much recoil as I expected. Still not 100% sold on it, but it's growing on me.

The Stoeger still for sale?
I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.

I await your follow up findings.

With so much trouble from various guns, I'd start considering user error.

I think this may have been due to the shells we were shooting being 2 to 3 years old and them being exposed to moisture a few times.

I had the same problem with my 870 and then it would not lock forward everytime it was cycled (shell or no shell). Turned out to be a bent sear spring in the trigger assembly. 5 dollar part. I would disassemble and check that.

Cable drove to Houston to watch Gaylor's first bowl appearance in 18 years. I am currently berating him via text as the little bears are getting spanked by Illinois. If you have his number, feel free to join in the dogpile.
