I have several bucks that I could not catch in daylight this year and more that would not make AR's, so I have been thinking about building an antler trap to try to catch their sheds. Has anyone done this before, and what type worked best for you? I am quite sure I can get them to come to corn. They have been all season...at night. Also, when do they start to shed their antlers? I know it's winter, but how far into the winter?

Thanks!!!
Matt

Place 2 posts and about 6 foot of fencing in between, feeding, scrapes and bedding areas, that should work

feb/mar is when I start looking

I plan on using c'mer deer and veggie attractants in my traps when everyone puts them on 50% off in couple of weeks.

you can also strech innertubes between your feeder legs and when they eat they will bump there horns against them and find them under the feeders

Also just walk your fencelines. Alot of sheds are found along fence lines as they lose them while hopping over.

the bungee cord idea gave a good idea of a couple tposts, bungee cords and a protein feeder. set it up so they are bumping their antlers at the most likely place for them to be getting food since the corn feeders arent going to be running after january.
