I have not seen crap the last few trips to the lease. Who has taken a nice buck the last day or the last hunt of the year?
Thanks, Jigfish

My place gets better with every week of the season. Take some of the best bucks every year at the end of the season. Dont give up. Hang in there and try something different if your normal places dont seem to be paying off for you. Find a spot away from stands and feeders, throw out a little corn by hand up wind from where you want to sit and see what happens. Good luck.
Let'em grow old

I did it last year.
It was the last day of the season and the last five minutes of the hunt. I had all my stuff in my stand packed up and was reaching for my rifle to get out of the stand when I saw movement to my left hand side. It was a nice 8 point followed by the old 9 point I had seen opening weekend. I pulled the trigger on the 9 point and my hunt and deer season was over within minutes of each other.

I would rather not see crap from the lease than at home. Don't give up just yet on the season.

I've taken nice bucks at sunset on closing day three years in a row. If I don't take one opening morning, or at least opening weekend, it's usually the last couple weeks of the season before I get one. I guess partly because lots of folks "settle" for a tag-filler in order to be done by the Holidays, and the woods around me get real quiet.

I don't give up until the final sunset...And yes I have taken several over the years between Christmas and the end of the season.

I'm not giving up, just depressed that I haven't seen anything to shoot lately. I shot a spike thanksgiving and that is it.
Thanks, Jigfish

deer get difficult when you start picking 1 or 2 to kill if they present themselves. BUT for sure going to go shoot a doe at some point between now and feb b/c I have been having cravings for deer jerky.

A few years ago I took a pretty nice buck 15 min befofe the end of season.
A little encouragement here... this last Saturday I had 2 big does and 4 yearlings come in 5 min later 2 decent bucks followed and chased them around. (more deer than I've seen total this year) It's not over til it's over! Hang in there until the sun goes down the last day of season.

I have not seen crap the last few trips to the lease. Who has taken a nice buck the last day or the last hunt of the year? I haven't seen but one doe in the last quite a few times I've been out. Gonna give it one last shot this week thru the weekend. I haven't shot a buck on the last day of season before but I have shot doe on the last afternoon of the last day before. Good luck!

I'm not giving up, just depressed that I haven't seen anything to shoot lately. I shot a spike thanksgiving and that is it. I promise, I know the feeling. Got a nice 10 and 12 coming in at night, but quit showing up in the day time back in October. Had a dang nice 9 in yesterday morning, but not gonna settle. If they don't show up then there is always next year....I'm putting doe in the freezer!

I'm hoping my wife can get a buck this weekend. She passed on a young 10 pointer early in the season hoping to see an older one and hasn't seen a buck since.

I cant say that I have, but was in the stand with my Dad on the last weekend of the 2000 season when he shot a 167 inch 10pt in a snowstorm in the Panhandle. Watched that deer come for over a mile. I believe we had 75 deer visit his feeder that day and too many turkey and quail to count.

I killed a big bull elk on the last day of a 10 day hunt right at dark. We couldn't find him until the next morning. The next morning was 9/11. I'll never forget it.

We always see good bucks the last weekend of season. The problem on our place is that by then most of them have broken up antlers.

I hope to get my son out for the first time this season. He is lucky. He will fill a tag.
