Hey all. I am new to the forum and relatively new to duck hunting (only been hunting 2 years). I have finally gotten comfortable with my calling to use it in the blind. I was just wonderin if anyone had any helpful tips/links to places that do that could help me out a little, I'm really havin trouble with the Cajun squeal. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And if anyone ever needs a huntin partner in the north Dallas area, I'm always game to knock down some birds Thanks guys!

RNT puts out some CD's that are pretty good.

The cajun squeal will take some practice. I really like to use it while huntin in the woods, potholes, slews. It takes very good air control and most cheaper calls won't do it. I use a Echo XLT Timber that does it all well and there are others that are just as good such as RNT, Buck Gardner to name a couple.
If you go to you tube and type in duck calling, you'll get every type sound you can imagine, by very good callers to very bad and everything in between. Just pick your way around until you find what you need. The good ones will stand out and they do a good job of explaining the how to.
Good luck and keep us posted on how it goes.

Taught myself to call fifteen years ago, never heard of a cajun squeal. Maybe that's the sound his sister makes when her toes curl? BTW, I am pretty much the best I know of.

Less is not always more. You can listen to a hen on a pond and think that is the way you should call. Get close to a whole bunch of mallards on a pond, river, or in flooded timber, and it sounds like screeming. That attracts ducks from a distance. That's when more is better.

I currently go to school in Mississippi, and have a few friends that have 1,000s of acres of flooded rice in the Mississippi delta and NE Arkansas, the main reasoning behind my wanting to learn the squeal

www.callingducks.comThe squeal is created by increasing the air pressure forced on the reed using your tongue much like using your thumb to spray water out of a hose. The volume of air used stays the same just the water hose. On the back end of your normal quack instead of just slamming your tongue and shutting the air off, work on moving your tounge up toward the top of your mouth gradually over the length of your quack. Couple this with jaw movement to change the area available in your mouth for air volume. The best calls for learning the process are those with low end hold. As stated Echo calls are well known for this attribute. Good luck. As stated the proper call really helps while learning, once learned making the sound on a number of different calls is much easier. You need a call with low end hold... Such as the Echo timber, xlt

I'm new to the forum as well, but couldn't pass up the chance to say go Ole Miss. I went there also and grew up in the MS Delta so very familiar with flooded rice fields but mostly jump hunted ducks on family catfish ponds.
