Okay, yes I know about the chasinggame site. The problem with that is you have to read every one of the articles and they are very unorganized. I read as many links as my eyes can take and I still do not know which is best.

I got a couple of the $149.99 Cabelas cams made by Moultrie. They were connected to solar chargers and yes, they were hooked up fine.

I got one good picture....one.

I got 6 more pictures on the same cam and nothing at all was in the shots. The second cam took nothing, not a single shot.

So, I do not want to spend $1000+ on a gamecam, but I need something (A couple of them) that have the ability to attach a recharger to it. (I have a lease that is 3-4 hours away and going out every 3 weeks is a pain if all I am doing is changing the batteries)..heh

What is a good camera that lets me attach a recharger AND has good shutter speed and reliability?

Thanks.

For a reasonably priced commercial camera go with the new moultries. IR-40 and IR-60. These can have an external battery source and I think soon to come a solar charger. But really you won't find a commercial camera that will hold up to your needs unless you go for the more expensive ones...Buckeye. Check out some homebrew cams, these offer incredible picture quality and you can get different battery options that would fit your needs. www.pixcontroller.com and www.qdmaforums.com are good place to find people that build them.

Well, the place I hunt is 3-4 hours away. I do not think Cuddeback has a solar charger setup.

I am really liking the one from pixcontroller with the cell phone feature, I am just not sure if the solar charger chargers the cell phone also.

The angle extra makes a big difference. Also try baiting the deer in front of the camera to get the in range. I have a friend with that same camera and he gets great picts. You do not have to spend allot for good cameras. I had two guide gear cameras from sportsmans wharehouse that took great photos they only lasted two years but they took about 5000

Those are a rip off. And that's not because I sell buckeye's, it is because you'll be spending a fortune on cell phone service each month, it can range from 20-90 bucks a month sometimes more, there's a post on pix about them and it's ridiculus how much they're spending. The cost would equal a Buckeye within a year and they don't have that great of pictures anyways. I'm telling you as far as low priced commercial cams, go with the new Moultrie, the next step up in price would be a homebrew (get them from an individual not a company like pix) and finally the buckeye. They are heads and shoulders above any other camera on the market, commercial or homebrew. If you want, pm me and I can give you some prices, I sell them at a lot less than anyone else.

Well, quality is a good issue with me. I tried cheap and got that.
The quality of the ones I have are fine, but 2 months and 7 pictures on one cam and none on the other.. a bit much.

Also: Cell phone only costs me about 20 a month plus the cost of the phone, about 100 bucks. I already checked, so that is not a huge issue.

I would double check just in case, there's something goofy with the dat. service, and something else is required to send pictures and then there's always the issue of getting coverage. After I read the post on pix's site I decided it wasn't worth it IMO.

Okay,

I agree, the pix systems take pictures using the Treos.. the quality of a cell phone picture is NOT what I want. Also, most of the pictures are like 10 feet away. I want a larger angle than that.

The problem with Moultrie is that the solar charger they supposedly sell, does nto actually fit on the camera. If they did, I'd get that in a heartbeat.

If I had a house at the lease, I'd get a wireless setup and direct it to a website.. heh.. but I don't.

So, stand alone with a charger and a lot of storage space with good range and shutter speed looks to be the best deal.

I guess I will look at Buckeye.

I have the solution but it is a major pain. The Moultrie you paid $150 for at Cabellas - is $75 at Bass Pro - go and buy four. Set them up. Keep the one that works right, take the other three back. Do this 3 times and you will have three cameras that work. It's the only way. They must do zero quality control on the manufacture of these cameras.

Also.. I will be able to sleep at night

Thanks though!.. heh

I don't have any trouble sleeping. The cams don't work so I take them back. Bass Pro shouldn't be selling a product with 75% failure unless they are expecting many returns. If they work I keep them.

Oh, if I got them from Bass Pro, I might take them back there.. heh.. but I got them from Cabelas.

I may still take them back to Cabelas, Derrek at the Buda store told me if they break, bring them back, so I am pretty sure it is not an issue. I want to see if I can fix them and add a couple more to really get some good pics.

They were only out for 4 weeks but I got ONE good pic of a possible nice buck... so.. I am sure there will be lots more good pics if I add cams.. heh
