Hello, looking to build two feeder pins as soon as season is over. The purpose will be to fence off my protein feeders to keep the cow's from getting to them. My question. I have no idea how big to build these pins? Also not sure what guauge wire to use, how tall to make the fence, etc. Anyone know anywhere close to Sonora which is where I hunt to pick up cheap fencing materials?

bigger the better... think of it like you're creating a cow free feeding zone for a lot of deer... not just the 4 or 5 that will be eating at one time.

make it 60 feet in diameter, or bigger. we use 3' hog panels and it keeps the cows out for the most part.

I use eight 16 foot panels arranged in a circle with t-posts at 8 foot intervals. That puts your feeder 20 feet inside the pen which will have a 40 foot diameter.

Drive a stake in the middle of the site. Tie a 20 foot rope to the stake and you have your circle. Nail one end of your panel down and move rope around the circle. Rope end gives you correct placement of the end or the panel and starting point for the second. Works like a charm.

I struggled with cows breaking down the barb wire fence around my three feeder pens for the last couple of years, I finally replaced all the barb wire with cattle panels at the beginning of this season, problem was solved.
