Thanks to all for the input - I wasn't familiar with the Tikka but checked it out and it looks nice. Going to get to Bass Pro after Christmas to see one in person then decide.
Thanks! Just remember you can do this in your budget what's the weight on that rig? Haven't weighed yet but will for you after I give it to her, she is home or would weigh it now but it is sweet with Ti stock, I wanna know myself but she has been around to much to get out of safe.

Kampfield does great work on those bolts. Consider also a CZ550. Once you shoot that single set trigger you will be sold on it. Tikkas have a nice crisp trigger. For just a few hundred more you could get a Cooper. The Remington CDL SF are nice. Check out Gunsamerica. Don's Hobby Guns has them for $719. See link below. Best looking Remington other than Remington TI which is twice as much or Sendero which is heavy. http://www.gunsamerica.com/911999146/Gun...ged_270_Win.htm

I will admit Tikka is a very good gun and a great price.
I had never owned one untill I saw one pop up in the classifieds here on the forum. It was priced right so I bought it and was pretty impressed with it. It was one of the original ones they made quite a few years back and from what I understand they have only improved since then.

Remington is only way to fly Maybe for you BMD, I've got two 700's in the safe with two older Savage mod 112's that shoot just as good as my 700's and they are all stock. No mod's what so ever. Not every body has the extra cash to throw at rifles!

I've owned many a rifle in my lifetime. I won't own a rifle that doesn't do 3/4" or better at 100 yards. Having said that the MOST accurate rifle in the safe is a TC Icon with the weathershield finish chambered in 243. Shoots Federal 55, Win 55, Hornady 58, 75 and 100 grain all into less than 1/2" at 100 yards. Recently shot a group slightly under 1" at 291 yards - with the Winchester ballistic tips in 55 grain. It even shoots the Fiocchis into about a 3/4" group.
This is my second one, with the first being a blue version that shot awful well also. Not sure which one was more accurate but I opted for the weathershield finish for hunting. TC says on the hang tag that you don't need to oil the outside, gets dirty, just wipe it off with a wet rag.
They also come with built in weaver bases so that's less screws to come loose and no bases to buy.
Only complaint I have is it's a little heavy but still not bad when compared to 700s and other 'regular rifles'. Heavier than a Tikka, little heavier than an A7.
Look around on Gunbroker and you can pick up new ones from dealers for decent prices. You can buy cheaper and lighter but I doubt if you can buy more accurate for the money.

I would guess 7 3/4 but not sure going to try and find her something around 6lbs if possible....I refuse to tote her gun for her so there can be no claim that I dropped it, bumped it, etc. if she happens to miss something with it.

I used to like 700s, and they were the witches tit for the longest, but I honestly believe they have run their course. New ones are just not what they once were. That is my reasoning in choosing the Browning or Winchester. Custom rifle build I still would not go with a 700 action.

The brand new winchesters are pretty nice, I wouldn't own a browning rifle they should stick to shotguns . I know they prolly outshoot the Remington too
