I strongly suspect most emergency room physicians would be just as unsympathetic to parents who buy their kids an ATV, as the one who appears in this report.

I have three kids and two ATVs and not once have they rode either ATV when I wasn't there with them.

Yeah, I think this is more a product of high population plus a lot of outdoorsy weather.

It's like publishing a story that Texas ranks first in States among people that root for the Longhorns.

Not really news.

True Dat...I think we also rank 2nd in Highway fatalities....because we have more miles of highway...law of averages/ population etc.

I was riding a four wheeler by myself all the time when I was 6 or 7 years old. I would get on my Honda 125 with my pellet gun and go hunting for hours. There was no bird or squirel safe if I was around.

The ATV's are not the problem any more than forks and spoons lead to child obesity. It's a shame that some parents aren't more responsible and their children suffer. We can't protect them all.

The two states that rank ahead of Texas are California and Pennsylvania. I can understand California having the most with the great weather and many places to ride. But why more accidents occur in Pennsylvania than Texas is a good question. Like California, perhaps it's because of the abundance of more rough terrain.

My guess is that people in PA are miserable and don't really want to live.

Pennsylvania also has a LOT of hunters, even though the report made no reference to ATV accidents and hunting.
