Headed out to Lake X with Jeff (catsalesman on THF) this morning. Get to the boat ramp and nobody is there, not one other boat, nothing, nada. I look at Jeff and tell him "I've never been the only one here on a weekend". So, that tells me that Lake X has been slow or everybody slept in. Turned out the lake is really slow for ducks right now.
Hunted back in some timber and we only had one group come in, Jeff shot one bird and I laid down another. After that.... No birds flying. Really slow and the only birds shot were boot lips!!

Anyway, it was good to get out and we hunted with two dogs. At least both of them got to retrieve ducks. Funny, but Jeff's dog retrieved my bird and my dog "Ammo" retrieved Jeff's bird.

Been there done that. I've been at the boat ramp running a little late and checked my calendar to make sure season was in. Then when you shoot the only single duck on the lake you aren't suprised.

I've never regretted going on any hunt, but I regret sleepin in every time.

Hey pics turned out good Van. As stated above, still lots of fun, and the dogs got to do their thing,although short lived (lol), which made it all worthwhile.
