I was in one of the local gun shops last week looking around and I asked the guy that runs the place for a box of 454 shells. Well he did not have the brand that I was looking for but he did tell me something that I have not heard about. He told me that as of September 1 that all of his ammunition prices was going up 15%. Now will someone please explain to me about this 15% increase: Is this just him going up or is it State wide, If it is State wide is it a tax and what all does it affect. Help me out here. BTW it did not dawn on me what he had said until after I had left his store or I would had asked him. Thanks in advance

Jerry, I'm sure it'll be attributed to the "duty to retreat" law changing and gas prices trickling down to the consumer and the war and taxes.....

I am sure his price increase has to do with the sky rocketing prices of copper, brass, zink and so on.

I even noticed in my latest cataloges that there is a disclamier stating that due to the rising cost of some metals that prices are subject to change without notice.

I bought a 100 round box of 45 ACP about 6 weeks ago for $23. Went back 2 weeks ago for another box and it was $28 for the exact same thing. Looks like it's time to start reloading.

Yew guys ain't seen nuthin' yet...has anybody paid any attention to the new OSHA regs that includes loaded ammo and all explosives and components? Just another Gubamint well thought out boondoggle that will CREATE A SEVERE DIFFICULTY TO EVEN STAY IN BIDNIZZ for a lot of folks engaged in the shooting sports industry.
This well constructed gem of Regulation was already 'posed to have gone into effect as I understand it but has received a 60 day extension on it's execution...uh pardon me ...implementation date...and has not been widely if at all publicized until sumbody stopped drinking the Gubaments koolaid and realized what the COMPLETE ramifications were going to be for all involved in a legal, so far, exercise of their Rights. Ya'll check it out around the Web to see what all the yelling and hairpulling is about...and THINK how it will affect YOU and your ability to buy ammo or reloading stuff.
Might be time to rent a backhoe and create your own..uh "storm cellar" ???....like my favorite childhood cartoon character "Pogo" was often quoted..."we have met the enemy...and he is US!" is the attitude of this current Gubament IMO but YMMV. OBTW have a nice day courtesy of OSHA, Homeland Security & the US Federal Gubamint...'cause we are watching and know better than you do about everything you do ...and what we'll allow regardless of any silly piece of paper that was written over 200 years ago. "Ya doin' a GOOD job Brownie" all over again!

Last I heard OSHA has withdrawn the proposed changes, at least for now. There have been lots of goverment officials getting lots of emails concerning this. I sent several myself.

Just another attempt by the gun control zealots at backdooring more regulation on guns and in this case ammunition.

Part of the cost increase is the war in Iraq which is causing shortages in brass, primer, and bullets. Some of the manufacturers are running production at max just to keep up with Department of Defense orders. While this production is keeping supplies low it is also slowing down sporting arms ammunition. I doubt if there is a lot of demand in DOD for a lot of the ammo that we use for hunting or sport shooting and that will be the last they produce.

I doan't think too many of this current Adminstration could be called "gun control Zealots" 'cause they was all s'posed to be card carryin Republican appointee's approved by Jerry Falwell, Rush, O'Rielly and the NeoConservatives led by Prime Minister Cheny...but given the professionalism and reliablity of the current crop of Gubamint employee's they's no tellin' who's pulling the strings & why...and certainly no transparent accountability to find out. JMHO the crows are coming home to roost... but YMMV.
OBTW I used to believe in a particular political party...now I believe in preventing whatever party is in power from hiding the truth about what they do and if it is gonna hurt my personal interests...so you can officially call me an Independent!
