7.62 x 39 is the round the AK is generally chambered in.

7.62x51mm is fine in a .308 chambered rifle, however, .308 may not be fine in a 7.62x51mm rifle.

My AR10 is very accurate and I've used it to take both hogs and deer as well as varmints.

My Old School Colt Model 02 Clone project. This is an older picture. It now has a waffle mag sitting in it. Still needing the correct dust cover and a couple other minor parts that most would not know are needed to look correct.

For anyone with the front sight still mounted...

Does it affect your sight through the scope? What scope mounts?

I just ordered a scope, but don't know what to do about the mount...

Mine never goes in a case. I built my AR to be handy in the truck. A case would defeat the purpose.

Spikes upper and lower, Denny's Guns SS 16" recon barrel, Young National Match carrier, magpul furniture, Chip McCormick trigger, LaRue rail, LaRue gas block, LaRue scope mount

I need some education on this subject. What is the advantage to the AR compared to a Ruger .223 Ranch Rifle?

I get the impression it is only the "cool" factor but need some advice. What will one do that the other will not?

I am looking at both.

#1 ARs are much more accurate. I had a Mini 14 ranch rifle at one time.
#2 Parts. There are tons of parts for these guns. For less than $100, you can have enough extra parts to keep your AR running for probably as long as you live.
#3 They are modular. Meaning, push 2 pins and take off your .223 upper and replace it with a 6.8 SPC, or 6.5 Grendel, or .450 Bushmaster, .458 Socom, .50 Beowulf etc.
