I just got a new gsp yesterday. Hes around 18 months old and hes really hyper. Im going to kansas this weekend and wondered if i should take him. The guy i got him from told me this about him.
He points everything, is extremely birdy. Since 8 weeks he has lived on a 640+ acre game preserve so he has pointed on pheasants- 50+ pairs, quail (mostly, it's our highest population-600 + birds), doves and a little experience in a shallow ponds with ducks. He needs a lot of water work. I haven't been able to hunt much over him, he is not gun shy- he goes skeet shooting with me on the ranch all the time, but I have not dropped birds over him yet. Starter pistol in the field with scented dummies is not a problem for him and he will retrieve. He needs work on chasing flushed birds ( e collar) not steady to shot yet, again I just haven't had time with our new baby. I hope that answers your questions- he is pretty solid on yard training- sit, stay, heel, etc... He is still a pup and needs work also, I just don't have time right now and that's unfair to him.

Should i takem?

Take him!

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill
