Not sure that is a true albino. The nose looks black and the skin around the eyes looks black. A true albino is pink skinned.

We had one on our place for 3 years. Without pink skin its not albino. I asked a biologist about it and he told me its caused by many many years of inbreeding. He also told me that most white deer will not grow to be big. Usually small bodys and small antlers. Ours only got to about 60# and 80 or so inches at 3 years old.

I don't think I would shoot it. It'd be kind of cool seeing him while I hunt. Kind of like making it the lease mascot or something.

Why dont he just take it now. It probably wont make the rest of the season anyway.

A hunt based on only trophies being taken falls far short of what the ultimate goal should be,time to commune with your inner soul as you share the outdoors with the birds, animals, and fish that live there. -Fred Bear

Personally I would watch it grow but that is the most genetically inferior deer on the place. Funny how with all the rage about genetics and growing big deer so many people would let this one walk. He is a mutant as far as genetics go. I think it's cool and dont really care about genetics I'd watch him and hoped that he made a couple years.

Would it be legal to catch him and raise him in a pen?

If this is a Texas deer, than yes you could actually catch him and put him in a few acre encloser. Ranches do it all the time with the better end bucks that they have on their ranch. Its called the DMP program. It allows ranches to catch a buck and put him with an x amount of does inside of a 5+ acre high fenced area. The goal is to then remove the does and allow them to fawn out in the wild after they have been breed by the buck.
