Well, shot at a nice buck yesterday about 5:00pm or so. Easy shot 80 yrd .. Boom he ran into woods. Just knowing he's right inside wood line. I gave him just a little while and went to look. As i was walking into the woods edge i heard a deer blow and thought surely not!! Then after a quick look went to find blood nothing . Its dark now so i go home and about two hours later take my son with me to look NOTHING !! spent 2 hours .. Now today, I went back walked everywhere no deer. About to give up and went to try to find blood one more time where i thought he was standing and thats when i find a huge amount of hair .. no blood, no meat chunks, nothing but hair.. Clean hair no blood .. NOW here's where it gets stupid.. I recently bought some 7mm-08 , 139gr. light mag btsp gun was sighted in for them .. i also just bought some 139gr. light mag sst's .. I shot the sst's to see if they shot the same they didn't sst's shot 5 inch high at 100yds.. and i knew this.. I shoot a T/C pro hunter and have extra bullet caring thing on my stock. I had it full of the btsp and had one sst in there that i forgot about ,, Guess what I now can't find it .. I usually hardly ever miss !! I wasn't nervous ! in a box stand had a good rest .. Deer was slightly quartering toward me. He should have been dirt right there.. I am happy i only grazed him but pissed cause of my dumb mistake.. Deer was a really nice 8 about 18 to 20 wide !

That's the darkest deer hair I've ever seen. You sure it doesn't belong to sasquatch?

I'll admit I've not been around the block as many times as a lot of hunters on this site, but I just don't think you would find that amount of hair all in one spot from grazing him with a bullet. Something just isn't right about that hair.

Please don't think that I'm just trying to pick your story apart. I assure you that's not what I'm meaning by my questions/comments.

Angling towards you would explain all the hair.You grazed the animals side.Looks like deer hair to me, by the way.

Wow that is a lot of hair. Never seen that much come off a deer before. Maybe someone else can shed some light.

grazed his back...found something similar when my nephew did that on a doe a cpl years ago.... but she came back 2 weeks later and he finished off the rest of her hair. 223 caused her to have a bald spot about the size of a baseball on top of her back.

You guys are right .. I would find it weird too ..lol But it happened to me ! Like i said deer was walking straight towards me only quartering toward me barely. I took the shot at deer on its right side about half way where shoulder and brisket meet up figured i would just shoot it in the chest bang boom done deal after all it was a 80 yrd easy shot . I was afraid to wait. It was getting so close to my box stand. I afraid it would smell me and bolt out.. it stopped serval time looking straight at me , so i decided to shoot.. After coming home I shot my gun again with these two bullets and the sst's hit exactly 5 inches high. I went and got one of my upright mounts and thought "if was aiming here" found the spot , then i measured up 5 inches . It was exactly 5 inches to mounts back.. I think theres are nice buck with a bald back running around my neck of the woods or maybe yours by now..lol

also found a huge rub while i was looking for him . Got my camera set up there now .. Maybe we'll get a pick of him soon.. Keeping my fingers crossed for sure.. thanks for the replys !

I have seen that much hair one time, shot one quartering toward me slightly with at 357 from about 7 yards. big ball of hair anthing else. I saw the deer several more times during season and he had a streak across his shoulder where the hair has come from about 5 inches long.

If you really think how thick a deer's hair is .. a bullet just coming over a small area on his back or across his back thats alot of hair ! deer hair is thick !! Still can't believe it myself .. Really hope we see him on game camera . or with my son holding him after he gets him ..

Here's how he was standing . He was actually a little more straight on than this but not much . I put a black dot close as i could get it to where i was aiming now go up five inches , think of all the hair when the bullet shaved his back !! Thought this might help explain !
