I am shooting Winchester 130 grain ballistic tips. Sighted in at 1" high at 50yds. Where does that put me at 100 and 200.
Thanks in advance for your help.

The only positive way to know is to shoot your gun at 100 yds and 200 yds, period. Anything else is just "educated guessing".

Yeah, sure you can look at charts etc. But the fact is real world experience is sometimes different than what a ballistic chart or book says.

Never have used the 1" high sight in at 50 yds. I have always zeroed in at 25 yds. Then fined tuned it at 100, I am 2" high but dead on at that mark with a dead on in the 10 ring at 225.

Maybe this will help. You really need to put it on paper though to know for sure if you got a place to back up that far.

From what I've seen in the field this program is pretty close.

Thats for a standard altitude of 500 ft. - also a 10 mph 90 degree crosswind is shown for you're windage.

Shows you being 2.5" high at 100 yards.

1" high at 50 yards will put you around 1.5" high at 100 and a little over an inch low at 200 yards and about 4" low at 250 yards. That is where I have my scope set at.

I agree with Spent Brass, nothing like going out and checking it. Thats how alot of game is wounded and lost. Take the time to know exactly where your round is going to hit.

Thanks for the info guys. I am a bow hunter 99.9% of the time. Have never shot a deer with a rifle over 75yds in my life. I like to hunt heavy cover so shots are usually close and tight. Was just curious on the distance shooting if I was to sit on a field.

I zero my .270 at 2" high at 100yds. That puts it dead on at 225, and around 5" low at 300. that seems to be optimal for getting the most out of my .270 without going over 2.5 inches higher than my point of aim at any distance. Winchester and Hornady both have ballistic calculators, which should help you out.

Isnipe is an app for the iPhone or iPhone touch. It has almost all calibers and most all the factory ammo for the caliber. If you reload you can also enter your on info. It is a good app for on the field ballistics. It is also realiable. I shoot a 270wsm. Sighted in dead on at 200yds for big game and a 220 swift for small game. Sighted in the same. The app has yet to fell me. Check it out.
