My friend and I have an opportunity to get on a deer lease in Sabine county. Does anyone know how good the deer hunting in Sabine county is? Is there a lot of deer in the East Texas area? Thanks in advance for all assistance.

Depends on your definition of alot. Alot has to do with the property. But if you get out there during late October & early November, during the rut, you should be able to get a buck. Good luck.

There is alot of National Forest in that area with Angelina and Sabine National forest. A lease should give you some opportunity and less pressure. I used to hunt what is called Moore Plantation(SNF) Type 2 land and we always did fair. I saw a 150 inch 10 pt killed there several years back. The best bucks are killed in the area during the rut as with most areas. Pressure is less and bucks are running. My favorite time was Thanksgiving through Christmas. But to answer the question...deer are fair with a few good bucks known to be killed in the area.
