I am a noob to the forums but have been reading around alot and was wanting to know if you needed a permit to kill does in certain counties or just in every one and if you do how do you get them? The main reason I want to know this is because so far this year we have seen more does then bucks on the land we are hunting.

It goes by county. Some counties only allow does to be killed with LAMPS or MLD permits.

Well live in lubbock county but hunting in Garza I know I have the manual somewhere but can only find the 2006-2007 manual will try to find the otehr one. I am mainly hunting for meat but a nice buck for my first real buck kill (first was a spike) would be great to mount.

Looks to me like you can kill 1 buck and 4 does or no bucks and 5 does.

Look here... http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/huntwild/hunt/season/county_listing/details/?county=Garza

If it says no antlerless permit required and you are allowed to shoot antlerless deer in your county then you can use the tags that come on your license. LAMPS is for counties that have limited "doe days" and allows antlerless deer to be taken all season long.

Go to Walmart and get a rules and regulation book at the sporting counter and it will tell you all you need to know about your county and limits.

#1 - Throw away the 2006-07 Book. It's not valid anymore.

#2 - Click the following link and use the UPDATED BOOK.

No, you can shoot antlerless at any time in the season. January 3-16 is when you can shoot ONLY antlerless and spikes.
