45/70 Govt works great! I shot about a 200 lb sow this past weekend and dropped her where she stood. But like anything is where you hit them, my 5.56 mm works well too...

I've killed plenty with a .17hmr, ear shots and body shots, 20 grain hunting tip, most dropped in their tracks. got way too many hogs to use expensive centerfire ammo on them but do love my .308s 6.5 and .22-250 with my .45 colt Blackhawk on my hip.there is a guy on the .17hmr website always post pics of really big hogs he takes with his .17, he catches lots of flak, but I am like him, I make my shots count. he has some pics of internal damage to lungs etc. from the "puny" .17hmr. it is a nasty lil round.

Any of my '96 or '98 Mausers in 8mm 175 grain. They drop any size hog like a bad habit. Have yet to try the 7mm-08 on a pig yet, though.

im pretty sure it could work just fine if your only making headshots at somewhat close range, but i like to use a remington 1100 12 gauge with a fully rifled slug barrel, its got plenty of stopping power and enough range for hunting at night

I usually hunt with AR15s and I hardley ever have trouble taking one down 1 shot. I have been shooting deer with the same .243 for 10yrs and it will drop a hog no prob also but the AR is my weapon of choice for Hogs My AR10 was bought for that but I only use it if i wanna make distance shots but the .223/5.56 is just fine

308 with ballistic tips here. I would keep the ballistic tips for deer. Two weeks ago I shot a huge boar with a 7mm mag with a ballistic tip. As far as I know I shot him in the shoulders and probably didn't break through his shield. It knocked him down and he started to spin like a coyote shot too far back. He scooted on his chest untill he got his feet under him and he left the county. I have no clue where he went. All I found was mud on the grass.
