I have seen just some younger bucks chasing does... saw a great looking buck yesterday but he was just cruising and could have cared less about the does that were in his sight. I think these 80 degree days have them messed up. Hunted this evening and only had 2 does come in right at dark. Just wondering if anyone else hunting in the area has seen any signs of rut? I'm already tagged out but its still fun to watch!

I'm in Wise County and have been seeing different levels of chasing for the last month. Early in the month, the activity all seemed to be in the morning hours and I was seeing deer from sun-up to about noon, but the evenings were extremely slow. I watched that so much that I started only hunting the mornings.
In the last two weeks, that has changed. I hunted three mornings last week/weekend and saw next to nothing in the morning once it was light, but saw plenty driving in. Last Saturday, I hunted the evening and was not disappointed at all. In the last 45 minutes of daylight, I saw several does and three bucks chasing one doe. The moon was so bright I stayed in the stand long after legal shooting light because I could still see anything within 100 or so yards. Lots and lots of activity, even though it was almost 80 degrees.
Our biggest problem has been the heat and the moon, with the moon being the biggest issue. Hopefully we'll get some good cloud cover tomorrow night as this front pushes through, but that's not forecasted. Regardless, I think Friday will be the best conditions we've seen this year and I plan to hunt dawn till dusk.
Good luck out there and happy Thanksgiving.

I get to spend alot of time in Denton County looking and watching deer in the deep of nights. I have noticed on and off inconsistant behavior for the last 3 weeks. I have yet to notice the bucks locked on. I still see does and bucks eating acorns together. Any chasing activity has been younger bucks. Some of the bigger ones Ive seen cruising and thats about it so far. I spend 36-48 hours a week driving around at night.

I just got up in the stand and I'll tell you what. A lot has changed in the past two hours. Temperature are in the low 40s with a brisk north wind. Sitting n a tree stand with a buddy. Surely this will get the critters moving.

Cleer Creek...How did you do?? I also hunt a portion of Clear Creek in Boliver right off 455? Are you anywhere near there??
I will be out there in the morning...Hope to see lots of activity with the recent cold front...Can not help you much as I have not been out much in the last few weeks, stinking work....But when I was I saw cruising bucks not really relating to the does, just passing through, maybe the does in my area where not ready???

I think the moon has them messed up. I didnt see any deer until right about dark. Lots of turkeys as always. My buddy missed 3 different times with his bow. As far as deer movement i cant tell you the last time it was this slow. I usually have plenty of deer come into bow range every hunt. I think its a mix of the moon and weather change. I would imagine this weekend as being a good one. As far as where I hunt I dont really like to disclose that becuase I have had problems with people in the past. Happy hunting and good luck in the morning.

No problem, I understand...Just wandering if you were near me...
Do you live local? I live in Sanger...I know several who hunt around me...They say they are still seeing them, I am not seeing much, not sure where the Doe went...They were coming in like clock work, last 2 weeks, nothing but small buck here and there...Hoping my doe would bring me a big boy...I hope is was just the recent moon phases as well...
Good luck to you...

spike on a doe this evening, running hard. Only deer I saw. Well aside from the doe who walked up 40 yards from us after dark while trying to find all the pigs I shot.

30 miles to the west they were moving all day, but not until after 9am. Most deer I've seen in a single day all year. Definite chasing this morning.

I hunt in the Forestburg area and the deer have all been abducted by aliens or something.
