After 21 yrs of marriage, my wife now has the itch to hunt. Caught me by suprise as she has never been against it, just really hadn't said anything about her actually harvesting a deer. She hears all the conversations about hunting, cause of my big mouth. She takes phone calls from interested hunters looking to book, and at least can guide them to me with what they want. My FIL loved to quail hunt, but that was about it. So now I guess I gotta to get her a rifle, and dad nab it she's a south paw

Best of luck to you. I have tried to get my wife to go just sit in the stand with me, and she wants no part of it.

Your screwed, as much junk as you've bought for yourself to hunt with now you get to double it. Plus you get to watch the kids when its her turn to hunt. Your hunting expenses just doubled and your hunting time just got cut in half.

My wife grew up with her family hunting and she supports my hunting in every way and loves eating what I kill but she does not want to have any part of seeing it go down . I guess I'm lucky but I would love to have her with me especially when I have to hunt alone .

Evelyn That is what my wife said "You guys are just afraid we'll harvest a bigger buck then you" Granted I have just began to hunt this year but I have always fished and yes she like to go with me and yes she always get bigger and more. But hunting she said is all mine so I get some alone time with no one out there with me, maybe one day she will want to go but for now life is good she will fish with me but hunting is just me.

I know I may live to regret it, but I wish I could get my wife into hunting. I've been trying for the last 10 yrs with no luck. There is some hope though. This year is the first time she was not adamant about not going. So I might get her out there yet.

My wife loves the outdoors as much as I do, and has sat in the stand as a spectator in years past. This year, I purchased some cold-weather gear for her and dedicated some time for her on the rifles at the range (she was already a darn good shot with a pistol and shotgun). I persuaded her to take the hunter's safety course and get her hunting license. This past holiday weekend was her first time out with rifle in hand. We didn't see anything to harvest, but she is excited about trying again.
Time will tell, but so far I am optimistic about her participation. It may prove to be a mixed blessing!

I started hunting about 10 years ago-when I asked my husband if I could hunt with he and his brother, they didn't look too pleased. But once I shot my first deer and had them teach me how to field dress it, skin it, and butcher it-they had no problem with me hunting, and actually enjoy that I hunt. I too, am a south paw, but shoot a right handed Weatherby bolt action rifle with no problem. I'm so used to it I don't know that I could shoot a left handed gun. I also bow hunt, but my bow is left handed. And...I wear a Justin camo cap with crystals on the edge - the deer don't seem to mind at all! It's my lucky hat. Guess it just depends on how independent you guide your gal into being-for me, I go out on my own, and do my own thing. Now I have 7 grandchildren that I take hunting as well. I think grandma is far more patient when they accidentally kick the blind walls, or talk out loud than grandpa is But I feel great that we have another generation of hunters prepared to carry on the tradition in a responsible manner. I used to hate when my husband and his brother went, now my husband is the one complaining...because I hunt far more than he does If your wife wants to go, I say take her.

My wife surprised me last week and actually wanted to go out, got her first ever hunting license, did not get to see anything and she knows she will not have an issue shooting a hog but not too sure yet about a deer, time will tell and when she sees one hopefully she will be able to shoot it.
