Mods: If in wrong place, please move. Thanks.
In this review I tried to include a little bit about everything so the most people might benefit from it. My memory may be a little off on a detail or two but the main points are there.
Some basic info: Tejas Poco Ranch, Ranger, TX. – managed by brothers Tye & Troy Over 650 acres, high fenced Nov 19 – 21, rifle hunt, full moon, temp rising each day Hunt package posted on THF: management buck hunt $1,250.00 plus $100 a doe, lodging included, game cleaned and quartered (cooler on site), no meals provided.
Lodge/house: To say it is “nice” does not do it justice. Comfortable, clean, new'ish, yet still rustic/country: Large covered front porch, full kitchen, two bedrooms, four beds, satellite TV … very impressive. Tye and Troy have their own place to stay across the road from the lodge so guests have the lodge to themselves.
Covered box stands: I hunted 4 times from two different stands. I saw several other stands as well. I believe there are 8 – 10 stands available. The two stands I hunted from are large, stable, and have comfortable chairs. The stands have plenty of room on the shooting bench/deck and there are sands bags. I have been to shooting ranges that were less comfortable/stable.
Automatic feeders: When I heard/saw them go off, if there were no deer present, no deer came to feed. If there was deer present when the feeders went off, the deer seemed to ignore them.
Hunts: Friday afternoon: The stand located on edge of 3 – 4 acre food plot. I stopped counting at around 13 does/fawns, and 4 or 5 bucks with 4 to 8 points. Saturday morning: The stand located on edge of 1 – 2 acre food plot. Saw at least 8 total deer, 5 of which were bucks. One was 11 plus points (at least one broken point), 4 1/2 year old?, good mass and height on horns … some serious stud potential in a year or two. Tye grunted an 8 point to within pee’in distance of the stand. Saturday afternoon: Same stand as Saturday morning. Saw two deer right at dark; one doe and one buck. The buck might have been 3 years old but for its age it has 9 wide and tall points. Sunday morning: Returned to the stand we used Friday afternoon. Saw no deer. As we were getting ready to leave the stand I caught movement out around 250 yards, something moving at a trot, kinda quartering towards us. Ole “Eagle Eye” Tye quickly says “coyote” ... The coyote has been properly persuaded to not mess with any more fawns ...
Result: 7 point buck and a doe in cooler … meat heading to freezer is exactly what I wanted.
Tye, Troy, and the Ranch: Tye and Troy were very nice, easy to laugh with … good people. With this only being their 3rd year of commercial leasing, the 15 plus years of preparing and caring shows in the quality and quantity of deer, their knowledge, and the condition of the lease. I look forward to going back.

Thanks Jason! We sure enjoyed having you. The deer movement was a little slow due to the weather and moon. I'm glad it all came together and look forward to seeing you again. Have a great Thanksgiving!

Thanks for the nice write up Jason. I wish the deer movement would have been better. Like my brother stated, we had alot of things working against us-moon,wind,heat and acorns. We tried to make the best of a bad situation. It was a pleasure "guiding" you this weekend. Let us know how the venison turns out. If you shoot a young deer because a neighbor will shoot it, you are that neighbor.

I went there last year. Beautiful ranch, top notch bunkhouse, great deer, and 1st class service all the way. Tye and Troy will treat you right!

good pics, hope they do well, but if we are high fencing 650 acres we are all in trouble, IMO
