Cant be put any simpler than that. I am a dong lover myself, but when they are where they dont belong its different. We have 3 dogs that runn toegether on our place, seen them several times they hag around and are not supposed to be there. I think they are someones hog dogs that got away, two pits, and not sure what the other is. We have lots of pictures on trail cams. If it is yours keep it in the yard or be prepared for bad things to happen. We are out in the boonies, and to get to our camp they are at a dead minimum 1/2 a mile into our property as the crow flies, they got no business there. matt OMG, I just shotgunned coffee out of my nose and mouth and all over the computer and wall. Hey Red, check that first line, 2nd sentence dude. Don't want to give a wrong impression here.

We have a rule at our ranch. If a dog shows up that we do not know the owner or without a collar, it is shot. Have to protect the livestock. If it has a collar we will catch it and take it to the pound sometimes.

I think they are someones hog dogs that got away, two pits, and not sure what the other is. matt Is there anything other than that they are pits that would make you think they would belong to a hog dogger? Any vests, cut collars, tracking collars or anything? Most of us vest up our catch dog and run tracking collars so we can find them. Somebody probably dumped them out away from town and made their problem yours. sucks all around.

If your dog is barking at the back door and your wife is yelling at the front door, who do you let in first? The dog of course. He'll shut up once you let him in.

All I ask is that you be careful. I've had dogs get lost, and I've had to leave them out overnight. My dogs are human friendly, and I can see them hanging around a feed peen waiting on someone to come get them. I always hope that if anyone sees one of my dogs that they will take the time to look at their collar instead of shooting out of hand. I have a lot of time and money invested in my dogs...just make sure you know what you are doing before you go all trigger happy and follow the SSS that some are advocating without even questioning the situation.

Here in Bandera County there is a leash law. Dogs are to be on a leash or penned. I have had to much livestock either killed or maimed by dogs to let one go if found on my property. If a person wants to keep his dogs alive around this area they better keep track of them. Enough said.

I know someone who lost some young breeding bucks/does due to the neighbors dogs running, barking at the deer but not in the pens and the deer got caught up in the fences and died. The guy ran out there and shot them. The neighbors insurance company had to pay up big time for it.

Thats not right. I like dogs but if ones where he don't belong he's coyote bait. 3 makes a pack and domestic dogs revert back real quick.

I hate to kill dogs but I've done it quite often. If it's real friendly, I haul it 80 miles to the Fort Worth SPCA.
I have some neighbors who think their dogs ought to be able to run the area and chase cows and horses. One year there were 8 of them in the daytime pack and I saw 2 deer that year. I saw lots of dogs on camera and the areas under/around my feeders contained only dog tracks. So I went and talked to my neighbors. One said that there was no way to control where dogs went and that they didn't understand fences. The other promised that it wouldn't happen again but it did.
So, I started thinning and kept my mouth shut. They called the GW and the Sheriffs Office and actually blamed some hunters on another property. The GW and Sheriffs Deputies talked to the other hunters, me and some more neighbors. According to the GW, nobody knew who was doing the shooting but all thought he ought to get a medal.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

I hunted a place that had a pack of dogs that chased the deer into the ground, and it's a pitiful sight to see a deer running past you wide eyed with it's tongue hanging out and stumbling.
The Alpha dog was a big german shephard and one pit bull mix, and some other 57 breeds, and they were relentless with no collars.
Dogs are the worst as they don't kill for food, it's more sport for them. They don't stop, and they run in relays. A couple will pause for a breather while the others continue on and then they take turns until the deer is down.
Oh and I never went unarmed as I walked up on them once and they stood their ground and growled at me until I popped a cap.
They have little fear of man!

During bow season my buddy put out allot of hog attactant around one of my feeders. at day break 3 dogs came and took a leak all over everything he set out. He didn't shoot them tho because they all had collars. Personally, I would have told him to shoot them.

I wouldn't if they had collars, and especially with a bow.
You need something that will stop them in their tracks.
I knew a guy hunting on a military installation north of town that was given the green light by the headquarters personnel that Hogs, Dogs, and Coyotes were legal to shoot along with deer.
Well the guy shot the dog and it ended up running back home onto the owners back porch and the arrow had the name and address of the hunter on it which was a requirement of the state back then.
Needless to say he had to pay thousands in vet bills and got kicked off the reservation and the headquarters personel that said it was okay was punished as well.
