When I bought my 10/22 it already had a scope mount on it. It was new this way. I would like to take it off because it gets in the way of my open sights. I have taken it off before and put the screws back in but the screw sits up high like the scope mount because of the head on it. Does anyone know where I can find the original flat screws that came in the ones without a scopemount, or if the hole size is even the same? Thanks in advance for any help.

Just go to your local gun shop and take your gun with you. Tell them that you need "plug screws" for the mount holes on the reciever of your gun they should be able to help you.

I have to ask for them all the time when I remove the sights from some of my rifles and if you are a regular customer they might give them to you for free.

Anygun shop should have them. If you are close, bring it by and I will get them for you. Some of them were different, and some people put larger screws in the guns with scopes, so best take the gun with you.
