Yea he has the double nasty but would not let me try it. The spitfire was pretty easy to blow comparaird to my dads old duck commander call and sounds better to.

and stay away from zink duck calls. zink makes great goose calls, but their duck calls sound worse then a kazoo

I started off learning with the BG double nasty. Then a buddy of mine pushed me over to a single reed RNT "orignal". I it a lot, requires less air.

If you get an RNT I would go with the short barrel. It is easier to run than the original and is strait ducky. Whatever you get though I would stick to a decent single reed like said above. Might be a little harder at first but will pay off, it's not really that hard to get started if you know somebody that can call.

I love my RNT original in cocobolo. But if you're just starting out, Primos has a great DVD on calling - really explains in an understandable way, how, when & why to use certain calls. Ducks and geese covered. If I remember correctly, the DVD comes with their original wench call. Very easy to use. You might find that to be a great start. I took a kid for his very first time this weekend - he learned just one simple call for snows and specks from the DVD and did pretty good!

For the more proficient callers out there another good instructional CD is the one made by Carlson's, Championship duck calling or something like that. It really breaks down how to gate off your quacks and air delivery with more detail. It has a lot more instruction than the RNT or any other CD I've listened to.

Carlson Championship Calls, the only way to go on how to learn. They look at it as learning an instrument. http://www.carlsoncalls.com/volo.html

Exactly! They tell you why you are trying to say words into the call, it's all about gating your notes. Very much detail in it.

I have a carlson call and sounds great but it takes a ton of air to blow and the instruction is good just takes a lot of time. The two calls I run most of the time are the BG Tall Timber and the BG Spitfire. Both are fairly easy to blow and sound good. The Buck Gardner instructional stuff is what I listen to most of the time in the truck when I practice. So far for the money I have found the BG calls to be the best.

RNT original and get their cd's. Learn from the masters. I like it much more than BG's cd and DVD.

RNT it is then. I will most likely get the short barrel as I am not a big guy it should be easy to blow. Thanks for all the advise guys you made my choice much easyer.

Go to Cabelas and blow a couple and make your decision. I personally liked the Buck Gardner calls better than the RNT calls. Might have been the price but the sound was great too I think. I have a Spitfire, Double Nasty II (poly), Buck Brush Double and a Reactor. The Reactor is my favorite and it sounds great. His Straight Talk Duck CD is awesome too for learning and is $25 and comes with that Double Nasty II call.
RNT makes an amazing call, as does Echo, but the price is what sold me. The sound for the money on the BG and the sound for the money on RNT comparison was what got me. The value was just better with the BG for me.
The customer service I have gotten with the BG is awesome. I have called and talked to their pro tuners on some tuning items as well.

i bought the buck gardner double nasty combo kit that has a cd, and calling coach in it. I am new to calling myself and i thought it was very easy to learn using this kit. The cd was great. In only a few hours I was able to do match most all of what buck demonstrates on the CD. Seems like a good place to start for me. It was recommended to me by a guy who works at cabelas. The kit is 25, but it was and may still be on sale for 19.99 on cabelas website. THey didnt have it listed in the store at that price, but i asked about it and they looked it up and gave me the web price. Same with the storm front decoys. They were 34.99 for a dozen and listed on sale on the web for 25. Yeah, they may be cheap, but i dont care..they will get the job done if your like me and dont like spending tons of money on equipment. Double nasty call at cabelas
